New here...going off BC question?

Hey girls, I am new here. I have been lurking for a while but just recently decided to go off BC. DH and I arent exactly trying as of yet but we decided to see what happens. I was just wondering if anyone suffered any side effects when going off the pill? I have been off it for less then a month now and seem to be getting more headaches and feeling more tired. I was very nervous to stop BC becasue I have been on it for about 10 years now. I heard that when going off you are supposed to feel less moody, have more of a sex drive and lose some weight due to water weight. Just wondering if anyone found this to be true?

Also if anyone has an tips on TTC that would be helpful I would appreciate it. I am trying to read up and learn as much as I can before we actually start trying.

im prob not the best person to answer this because i have PCOS so my post-BCP symptoms may be different than others.

that being said i found that within the first few weeks i instantly lost that nagging 5lbs that i never seemed to be able to lose when on the pill. also my sex drive and CM def increased. and my acne came back with a vengence but i think thats more PCOS related than post-BCP.

as far as TTC tips - the most important one i can give is to make sure that when you are really ready to take charge of TTC (not just seeing what happens) that you first try to determine when/if you are ovulating, that way you know exactly where you are in your cycle and when to BD.

i really highly recommend charting BBT (basal body temp) to confirm that you are ovulating. i wasted my first 3 months off the pill not knowing if i O'ed or not because i didn't use OPKs or temp.

We are going off BCP after the last week of pills finishes this Saturday.
I've had lots of strange symptoms on bcp and I'm ready to be off! Plus I've been on them on and off for 12 years. I've always been able to be regular when off them, so I'm not anticipating any major cycle changes.

I always found myself to have a bigger sex drive and be a few pounds lighter when I'm not on BCP.

That being said, I'm going to start charting immediately when AF comes so I can monitor where I'm O-ing..

We're not going to be TTC until spring time-but if we get a BFP sooner planned it will be wonderful!

It's funny, everyone DH knows got pregnant within weeks of going off BCP, and everyone I know it took a minimum of 6 months.

You could be experiencing headaches from the hormone shift happening. I'm sure after a month or 2 you will feel better.

Lets see, I took my LAST pill on November 15.... so I am pretty fresh off the pill myself and took it for 10 years.

Since going off, I haven't noticed any major side effects. I have definitely been pretty tired lately and for the past few days I have a headache that just won't go away but I don't think the headache is pill-related and the tiredness is just because I go to sleep late!

However.... I will say that I have no ovulated yet so since going off the pill, that's my biggest concern..... You're doing the right thing by going off BEFORE you want to really start trying! I wish I went off over the summer..... but I didn't so no sense in complaining about it

I havent been testing yet since I havent been off that long. I am hoping everything is normal once I start monitoring. I am also hoping my cycles are normal. I know 10 years ago before I started taking BCP my cycles were very irregular. I am hoping that will be different now but we will see.

Can anyone recommend an OPK?

I stopped taking my BCP on July 6th to get off before we started TTCing.. We had BDed ONCE and I got my BFP on August 2nd.

Apparently I am fertile and ovulated a couple of days later even JUST coming of BCP.

As soon as I came off bc pills I became pregnant well 14 days from my last period after the pill. I lost weight and I had a crazy sex drive I may never go back on the pill best of luck every women is different but I never thought I would get pregnant so fast and I did not really trying just going with the flow of whatever happens happens.

I didn't lose weight, but my b00bs got a little smaller (that was a downside). But I must say that my sex drive has been stronger.
I had wacky cycles off the pill--the first one was 51 days long and I don't think I O'd until cycle number 3.
It seems everyone as different (as proven by the 2 posters before me). I hope it's a quick and easy process for you!!

I also havent noticed major changes either since going off the pill...and I was on it over 10 years. I did notice more acne but its not THAT bad.

I didnt lose any weight and this is our 2nd month TTC. So far nothing and its starting to get frustrating learning how my body is adjusting since going off the pill. I wish I got off the pill sooner to be honest and just have used other forms of protection.

I went off 2 cycles ago and while I am not temping or anything at this point- it did seem like I have o'd both months- we are just bd like rabbits and seeing what happens at this point. I would love for it to happen like that, but I am afraid we are in for a while

For me some things that happened after the pill- very thirsty around o time, minor mid-lower back pain- no weight loss though unfortunately- but that could also be because I ate like crap over the holidays

Was On BCP for 8 years. We aren't TTC, just sick of pill.

I lost 10 lbs, regaining my sexy high-school body. Other then then that I had longer AF & cramps again bla.

hello...I came off of the pill in March and initially i felt great...until about july. I was on the pill for about 10 years. Here is what I experienced.
-My sex drive def increased, i have very vivid dreams as well!
-I completely forgot how much cramps hurt
-I developed a serious pain on my right side during and after ovulation
-i gained weight..that figures that you are supposed to lose it!
-my period has become increasing irregular and not until nov did I start to see a trackable pattern
-my skin is horrendous!
That is pretty much it, I could handle all of the extra stuff it is the off cycles that are really bugging me, but my doctor isn't concerned and says it could take a full year to get a good cycle going, so we will see what happens come march.
