PCOS question

So it's looking like I most likely have PCOS. Nothing has been confirmed yet but it just looks that way....

Anyway...does having PCOS mean that you never ovulate at all? Or just that it's not consistent enough? Im wondering if these past 9 months of TTC were absolutely pointless. Chat Icon TIA!

Re: PCOS question

For most people ovulation occurs, it's just more difficult to pinpoint it. It may not be every month or cycles may be longer or shorter. For some, ovulation does not occur but can usually be helped with medications which can help regulate you. Any other questions feel free to FM me!

Re: PCOS question

unfortunately pcos covers an array of issues, and theres not necessarily a standard set of symptoms that comes with it. if you do get AF regularly every month there is at least a chance that you have been oing. do you chart bbt?

i know some women with pcos ovulate regularly. i dont. i present with high lh:fsh ratio which is a common symptom. but others with pcos do ovulate. some sporadic and some every month but may have other issues (ie. late ovulation could equal poor egg quality).

if you think you have pcos i would really recommend seeing an RE as they will be able to monitor you appropriately to make sure you are oing and responding to whatever therapy is necessary.

good luck and Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon . i know the boat you are in - i TTC for 6 months before getting dx with pcos. for me i only O'ed once in those six months but i was just off BCP so i didnt know enough to get diagnosed.

Re: PCOS question

It really depends...
I have PCOS and AF is absent for me. Do you get AF regularly? If you do, theres is a good chance that you are Oing. Since I dont O/rarely O, my doctor put me on Provera & Clomid. I'm in the middle of my first round of it now. I would definitely recommend going to a RE or your GYN and talk to them about your options.

Good Luck!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: PCOS question

Just want to tell you not to be too discouraged.

I have PCOS and I was on BCP for about 5 years. I went off the pill in March because my Dr said if we had issues conceiving, I would need to be off the pill for 6 months before she would do any tests.

Got pregnant in July. 4 months after stopping the pill and we were not actively TTC, just not being careful. We were shocked. So, it can happen. Unassisted.

Re: PCOS question

Thanks for all the info. ladies! My gyno is the one who mentioned that it sounds like PCOS to him and he has me going to see a specialist to confirm it and take further action. I do get AF but it can be anywhere from 32-49 days in between cycles so Im not to regular with it. Even though it didn't happen, at least it sounds like I have had some chances at getting pregnant these past months.
