But, to be on the safe side, I have DH use the stop clock on his phone as i'm dipping hehe

I think as long as you are dipping for like no more than 10-20 seconds its probably fine

I know that on the directions for the HPT's that I have used that you should not dip longer than X amount of time. Just check what the instructions say.

It is fine if you dip it longer. I always kept it in longer because I wanted to make sure there was "enough pee on the stick" just in case   and when I was pregnant it came up BFP every time even though I held it in longer.
