Re: PSA: H1N1 vaccine recalled
just wanted to add that Nassau County DID receive doses of the recalled vaccine. They said the offices that received them were notified today. DD#2 did get the first shot, and on thursday I will go ahead and get her the second shot, and DD#1 the first shot.

I'm confused-- Sasha needs two shots of both seasonal and h1N1 anyway.
Yes, She needs a booster shot for the H1N1. Although I heard some pediatrians are only giving the 1st shot of the H1N1 due to short supply.
If it's her 1st time receiving the seasonal flu shot she will need a booster shot for that one as well.

Re: PSA: H1N1 vaccine recalled
I am just curious does that mean that all h1n1 preservative free were recalled? If a child needs to get a second dose will there be any left? There weren't very many available to begin with(at least they are very hard to come by..I wasn't able to even get a preservative free one for my child)

Oh for the LOVE OF GOD!
DS did not get the pre-filled syringe dose but thats just ridiculous. At least its not bc they found it to be harmful, my heart sank there for a second.
I initially thought the same thing

I totally get what you are saying, but just breathe for now. They are only recalling 800,000 doses and they are not even sure yet that these doses were sent to clininc/drs in NY. So it could still be a moot point. Did you DC get the pre-measured syringe does?
Yes. Prefilled. And the timing of when my drs office got the vaccine coincides with this...so I am going to say its that batch.
Also, our drs office only got 400 doses. Out of 800,000, it's a good chance its that lot.
I am DONE. I am mad at myself beyond words. I should have went with my gut to NOT get it all along b/c this possibility was not lost on me.
I totally feel you, I went back and forth and I just had them get it yesterday, and now this, i should've just gone with my gut too.

I wonder what batch yours are from b/c they knew about this since Dec 7!!! I read that. But they only are alerting the peds TODAY I read also. How upsetting to say the least....

I haven't gotten any word but I am going to take a GOOD bet my ped's office used this one.

Re: PSA: H1N1 vaccine recalled
My ped sent an email saying
As many of you may have heard on the news, there has been a recall of several lots of the H1N1, injectable thimerisol-free vaccine. The recall is not due to safety concerns, but to a potential lack of potency of the vaccine. A review of our records indicates that we did have some of this vaccine for children under three-years old. It is not necessary to determine which children may have received this vaccine since no action needs to be taken. If your child has already received both doses, then nothing further needs to be done. If your child is due for the second vaccine, then keep the appointment as scheduled.
I guess it's better they were weaker than they were supposed to be and not stronger.....I'm annoyed but I can't get myself upset over something that's already done.

My issue is now I really dont want to give #2....yet now #1 may have been TOTALLY for nothing, esp if dont give #2. I am sick all day about this. Sick.

Re: PSA: H1N1 vaccine recalled
the thing that bothers me is that they discovered the ldecrease in effectiveness during testing which should have been done prior to sending them out in the first place, so it makes me wonder how many shortcuts they actually took to get them out asap

See again one of my concerns all along in this rushed process. Should have went with my gut.
To those of you who tried to console me...I appreciate it. I just feel I made a very bad choice that went against my gut...and my gut said rushing = not good.

Re: PSA: H1N1 vaccine recalled
It is frustrating that we hemmed and hawed over this decision only to find out it may not be effective and therefore making it a moot point.
My DS did not get the prefilled syringe, so hopefully his is still effective, but its only bc thats all my peds office had. Had he received the pre-filled, Id be frustrated too bc of how agonizing the decision was and all for naught. I still thank god though that they didnt find it to be harmful.
