Did anyone get sick from the glucose drink?

Just wondering because I have a final scheduled afterwards.

I remember when I got a cat scan and I had to drink that chalklike drink, I got soooo sick!

No, it definitely was gross, but it didn't make me sick. It's like really syrupy un-carbonated soda. You crash after though.

I didn't throw up from it but it made me extremely nauseous. Drinking a bottle of water helped out a lot. Hopefully it won't be too bad for you!

yes, but then again, i threw everything up.

i also had a sugar headache for the next day and a half. AND I did mine at 8pm. Thank God I had nowhere to be after that!

In all honesty, I would reschedule the GTT to another day. I know how i felt after mine and there's no way i could've taken a final.

I got really sick - completely nauseous and had stomach issues the rest of the day. I took it in the morning and was going to go to work afterwards, but I couldn't - I didn't feel too bad right afterwards, but the second I left the office and started walking to the subway to head into the office, I started to feel really really bad and just went home. I was never so happy as when I learned I passed and would not have to do it again!

I have been sick this entire pregnancy but did not get sick from the glucose drink. It tastes like super concentrated orange soda that someone left the cap off of.

I did it early in the morning though on an empty stomach. For me mixing any food and liquid is nauseating. I always wait an hour or so to drink after I eat- which was my Dr.'s recco and really one of the only m/s tricks that has helped me at all!

I got extremely sick to my stomach after the one hour test. Never threw up but wished I did. When I found out I failed I wanted to die. I attempted the 3 hour test 3 times. Threw it up every time after only a few sips. Had to go another route with the test. Went for a fasting blood sugar, ate breakfast, went back 2 hours later for more blood. I passed that. But ended up developing GD in my ninth month...

I had to leave work b/c my head was pounding from all the sugar. I came home and passed out for a good 4 hours and woke up feeling like a new person.

I guess I am in the minority, I chugged it down with no problem and didnt feel sick afterwards at all

Like everyone else has said, it's like drinking a really syrupy flat soda. I had the orange this time and it wasn't so bad. It's just so sweet that it made me dry heave a few times, but otherwise I was fine.

Yup...I did it at 10wks since they do an initial test and was able to keep it down, but I have tried now 4 times to do my 28wk test(I'm 34w4d now) and have thrown up everytime and now I have to eat some jelly beans and have them draw the blood since it has the same level of glucose in it. I also have gallstones and hyperemesis so i'm an exception to the rule. I wasn't that it tasted that bad, but that my body hits eject on everything after about 25-45 min.

I just started feeling icky... but I didn't actually get sick. I went home and laid down for an hour and then I was fine.

Me too...no problems at all.

Yes I got sick!! The one hour i had to do twice. The 3 hour I threw up too. I am now waiting to see what the doctor want me to do now..I do not want to do it again!!
