I need help.. I am about to lose my mind... MOMS PLEASE SHARE YOUR TIPS

I am going on a month of DS not wanting to eat solids or his baby food anymore doc doesnt seem conserned cuz he is still gaining weight and is taking 24 oz a day in formula. Yes thats all he is taking. he will be 10 months on the 11th. Now for the last week and a half all of a sudden he will not sleep through the nite and last 3 nites has been up from 1130 to 4 whining, screaming and fighting to be held. I have tried not letting him nap past 1 or 2. I have tried humphreys teething tablets, teething rings, orajel, motrin. Dr. says his ears are fine and his is having normal bms (loose) but due to the fact that he isnt eating solids this can be expected. Im just exhausted and stressed beyond belief and cant help but wonder what i am doing wrong. I feel horrible that today i was so frustrated i yelled at him and i know i was wrong and cant help but cry now and feel guilty for that ( rocking to sleep i apologized and apologized). Any other ideas what it could be or how to make it stop.My DH is now telling me he cant think of another child if this is how it will be. I try telling him it will get better but he doesnt see the future he only sees now. TIA sorry so long.

Sadie went through something similar for about a week and a half-- it wound up being teeth. As soon as the top teeth popped through she was back to normal.

Can you see teeth at all?

She was opposite in that she went on a bottle strike and would only eay solids.

I do see the tips of the 2 top teeth, and one on the bottom he already has 2 teeth. Any suggestion on what to do to sooth him so he will sleep. so it is normal to want to pull my hair out.

First of all take a deep breath. You are a good Mommy. I can tell how worried you are and how much you care.

He will not remember getting yelled at so forgive yourself, we all have those moments. You are not alone.

All things, good and bad come in phases that begin and end, some quicker than others. As far as feeding I went through a time that DD refused to eat (other than nursing) around the same age. I had to put on a floor show to get her to eat, I sang, danced, made puppets out of my hands, lit taper candles at the table for every meal (they kept her mesmerized and eating), allowed a couple specific table toys...anything that would entertain/distract while I shoveled it in. For a while I packed up our lunches and we went and ate at the food court in the mall. Seeing all of the people around us eating, she'd eat very well. This was also good practice for being in a restaurant. This phase lasted about 6-8 weeks for us. Now At a little over 2 she eats everything and is getting better at feeding herself.

We didn't have the sleep problems you are having but I can highly recommend the book "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" it really helped me understand the sleep DD needs and keep her in a good schedule.

I see you've spoken to your ped so I can't really think of any other causes other than maybe being overtired.

Aww sorry you are going through a rough patch ~ It will get better! (my hubby says the same thing about have baby #2) Sounds like it could be teeth, overtired, trying to show his independence & this his way of communicating. (maybe a little young for that) I would not worry too much about the food thing ~ my son went through the same thing and I was panicking he was not getting enough. (especially if your Dr is not concerned) You are a good mommy ~ take a deep breath and today is a new day!

Liam was having the same problems. Is yours running a fever at all. In the end, he had a bacterial infection in his blood. He was still eating solids but, refusing to nurse. especially in the evenings. Maybe request a white blood cell count?

Surprizing no fever at all. he is happy as can be during the day for the most part just doesnt want to eat or sleep.
