Question about taking temperature

(I will preface by saying this is my first time taking my temp- for ovulation purposes)
I woke up twice in the middle of the night to pee (And this is me NOT pregnant ) Also, when I got up and took my temp, I had to sit up and fumble with the thermometer because I'm a bit clumsy.......

So I have two questions...

1- Is the temp still accurate since I didn't have UNINTERRUPTED sleep? (I hardly ever do since I'm always going to the bathroom..)

2- Is it ok that I started sitting up, in bed etc, before taking my temp? I didn't actually get out of bed I just know you're not supposed to move around much prior to taking it.....


In any case, my temp was 97.4 and today is CD1. That makes sense, right?

Im interested in the 1st question too... I ALWAYSSSSSS get up during the night to use the bathroom and Im not even pregnant lol I always wonder if this affects my temp so Im not sure what the answer is to that.

For the question about sitting up, I wouldnt even do that b/c it can change your temp. I bought a good BBT off of amazon.com which has a backlight so you can see what it says in the dark. I put my BBT next to my alarm clock and when it goes off, I just put it right in my mouth still laying in bed.

When I was on CD 2 my temp was 98.2 I read that during AF, temps are sometimes wacky. My temp dropped on CD 3 and stayed low until I O'd.

Like pp said I would try my best not sit up. It's rough at first. my first few days I had to keep reminding myself not to just jump out of bed. As for waking up in the middle of the night I'm in the same boat. I swear I have the tiniest bladder ever. The rule of thumb is 3 hours of uninterupted sleep for it to be considered a "resting temp". HTH!

Thanks to both of you!! I realized I'll have to set up the thermometer with the plastic cover over it at night, rather than fumbling around with it in the morning...

I really hope I will be able to sleep for 3 consecutive hours before I wake up at 6am!

i dont sit up; i just reach over and grab it off the night table

also, not to worry; you dont really have to start temping until after AF is gone

seriously?! ok! thanks!

Also, I'm wondering who here temps on the weekends. I get up at 6am normally and I would have a hard time going back to sleep if I set my alarm!

I get up at 6am and on the weekends I still set my alarm to 6am lol Its really not so bad b/c I temp and I turn it off, and then I always go back to bed no problem (b/c Im so tired and dont get up until like 11 am)

The BBT I have keeps the last temperature taken so when I get up, I just log onto FF and plug in my temp. It stinks we have to do it, but I do it so that my temps stay accurate.

Im also a middle of the night - bathroom frequenter

a couple of times i took my temp at 4am when i got up for the bathroom and then again at 6 when the alarm went off and the temps were actually very similar - so i wouldnt worry too much about it.

And as far as AF - your temps will defiantely be wacky and you dont technically have to track them - but sometimes it helps to get used to doing it.
