Dear Random AF Cramping, (ETA new info)

I know you are common at this point but can you PLEASE come on alittle stronger and feel like actual contractions? Otherwise you are just plain annoying.

Sincerely,
Impatiently Waiting to go into Labor

ETA: GRRRRR no cramping at all anymore for the past few hours. What is up kid?????

Re: Dear Random AF Cramping,

This is GREAT news! You are contracting. Try to imagine them getting longer, stronger and closer together; Envision your cervix thinning and opening with each mild pain. Don't be discouraged.....you're starting the process. The hard work is right around the corner.......Keep it up, It'll be here before you know it!!!

Really??? Thank you for this. I feel like there is NO consistency w/ them. The only weird thing was in my dream last night i was thriving in pain from them. I woke up and thought it was real. They must have been going thru the night to have me dream about them.

Yup...sounds like your body was working even when you were sleeping. I remember having horrible period where I'd be dreaming about the pain. Come morning time, I'd be bleeding. Definitely stay positive and strong. Remember that labor starts off a bit erratic, but that doesn't mean that it's unproductive. None of your discomforts are wasted.....keep up your visualization and relaxation. Continue to tell yourself that you are ready and you can handle this.....it's only a matter of days now.

A Watched Pot Never Boils!
(I'm funny because I'm two weeks behind you and have already started 'watching'...but it sounds like good advice!!). Try to immerse yourself into an activity. The mall sounds good on a day like today. Chat Icon

Re: Dear Random AF Cramping, (ETA new info)

They are definitely needed for labor. But not to be a downer, I have been having contractions for 2 weeks (the same AF style cramping) and it hasn't done one thing to dilate me according to the doctor. They aren't Braxton Hicks, they are real contractions (they show up on all the monitoring I have had) and sometimes they are really regular (every 3 to 4 minutes). The doctor even told me not to call if I find they get really strong and close together because with being zero dilated, I still have a long way to go.

I hope that isn't the case for you though, but I know we can drive ourselves crazy thinking we are in labor every time we feel a twinge!Chat Icon

Re: Dear Random AF Cramping, (ETA new info)

Maybe you can order the Hypnobabies MP3 Track called "Come Out Baby". I know you and DH took the Bradley course and I gather that you'd prefer to Not be induced if possible. I just started the Hypnobabies home study course at 36 weeks and I'm beyond amazed at how the first 2 CDs helped me relax. I'm really stubborn, overly analytical and hyper aware. I know that where there's a will there's a way...and I'm driven to learn how to relax better. Maybe something like this can help you and your baby sync up to avoid an induction. Many people think it's hokey...but if you read the literature and research behind it, it truly makes sense. Scroll down to the "Come Out Baby" selection as there are quite a few other options.
