my 4 month old doesnt nap.. anyone else?

my dd hasnt napped in over amonth.. if im lucky i get 2 30min naps a day. If we are out and shes in the car i will get a 2-3 hour nap depending on how long im out.

I used to be ok with no naps since she was sleeping 12 hours at night but now shes up ALOT at night no where near the 12 hours she was lseeping and shes still not taking any naps.. im not ready to CIO i feel shes too little... So what am i to do? Is my baby the only one that doesnt nap this young?

At that age Ryan only napped in the car or with me laying with him and my b00b in his mouth.

Naps were always difficult for us until around his 1st birthday. I know that doesn't give you much hope, sorry!

sounds like she likes the motion of the car - she won't nap in the swing (i mean, that's motion too, right)?

thanks jess no it does help... at least it will happen one day! i was just worried that this is it forever!

i'm in the same boat. we swaddle him, try the swing, etc., and nothing works. my poor mom minds him when i am working and he doesnt nap at all! he was so cranky when i got home from work today because he is so exhausted! and i'd take it if he slept 12+ hours a night, but he doesn't!

I get the same - maybe 2 half hour naps, if that. Or I'm stuck with her on my boob...

man if the boob made her nap id attach her.. you think it would work if its empty? this no nap thing is a killer!

Are you trying him for naps every 90 mins? I just picked up a book that says you have to put them down for a nap 90 mins after they wake up from their last one. Its amazing! I was totally missing DS's tired cues and then I ended up stimulating him as I didnt know what was wrong with him and all he wanted to do was sleep. He was overtired and then wouldnt nap but once I started this 90 min routine he is napping.

So try it - cuddle him close and see if it works.

My 3 1/2 month old fights sleep and it's a lot of effort to get him to fall asleep for a nap. I could never just put him down in his crib or swing to nap. Sometimes I wind up nursing him to sleep, which I'm sure is a bad habit to start. If I'm not holding him the whole time he naps, he usually wakes up in a 1/2 hour. If we are out in the car or he's in the stroller, he naps nicely.

Alexa will be 3 months next week and already barely naps. She gets overtired and cranky, will sleep anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes and tyen is up, but still seems tired.

Maybe I will try the 90 minute thing..

The first 10 months of DS's life he slept Two x 20 minute naps per day. I wanted to die.

He slept well at night, so most people would be thankful, but I work overnights so I posted MANY times on here for someone to help me. I couldn't take him for a drive because I had been working all night and would fall asleep at the wheel.

But suddenly at just after 10 months he began skipping that pathetic first nap and sleeping 2 HOURS in the afternoon. GLORIOUS!!!!!!!!!

Some kids just don't nap well.

thanks for the suggestion ladies.. i will try that 90 min thing. How long should she be sleeping at each nap?? im going to read this no cry sleep solution book also!

We had to do the 90 minute thing too. We found if he goes much longer than that he is overtired and cranky. I've also learned the best way to get him to go to sleep is to cuddle him real close and snuggle him, he tends to go right down now.

hi hun...Kristina did this too (she will be 5 mos on friday!) but this week has been back to napping and sleeping 12 hrs again...so it might have been a phase for her and hopefully your dc too! i know how frustrating it is...i would go out for a few hrs everyday JUST to have her sleep, b/c otherwise, it was not pretty by the end of the day when she crashed!!!
