Living Room - Before and Afters

We bought our house in late March and spent about 3 months in phase 1 of our renovation project. We've been on a 4 month break from the big stuff since then, but we have been doing little things and getting ready for phase 2 in December.

The only really complete room from Phase 1 is our living and dining room areas. We tore up carpeting and weird nasty tile, refinished the hardwood floors, replaced two huge windows, torn down paneling and knotty pine walls (save for one, which we painted), re-insulated, re-sheetrocked, re-did the ceiling, painted and trimmed.

We still have a little work left, but I'm anxious to get some feedback on our hard work. We did most of it ourselves, with the help of my FIL's knowledge, blood, sweat and tears. (We would've never bought the house if it wasn't for him!) We only hired out the floor refinishing and mudding the sheetrock and ceiling.

LOL It is a nice size room, but some of the work we have left to do is to choose new furniture to fill the space up. Our little apartment size couch isn't cutting it anymore! We have to bring our area rug into the room too but right now it's covering up some pink linoleum in our master bedroom and that will be going in our Phase 2. Chat Icon

Thanks everyone for the compliments! Chat Icon

I think it looks great. What a difference.

We just did our hardwood floors too and a friend of the old owner stopped by and was amazed at how different and good our house looked.
