OPK Lines
Ok so this is my first month using OPKs and naturally I'm confused. I'm on CD 16 and have only gotten the faintest of lines so far. I mean it actually just looks like a dent in the strip that's how faint they are. The test lines haven't darkened at all.
Now, I'm using FMU to test because my bladder is the size of a pea and I can not hold it in for 4 hours. Could I have O'ed and it just didn't show on the test because I'm using FMU? If I didn't O, does the very faint line mean I am prob not going to O for a while still? Do the lines usually darken as you approach O?

What kind are you using? When I used FMU I missed my surge, but I hear with the digitals you can use FMU.
The line doesn't mean anything until it's a surge. Some people will have it slowly get darker, but mine would be white one day, and then surge the next, you just never know.

I have always used FMU with both my CBEFM and the regular OPK's. Usually though with regular OPK's I will test in a.m. with FMU and then do another test around 3pm. I usually see a dark line in the morning but sometimes it's a little lighter and then really dark with the 3pm test. That's why I like the CBEFM.............you always use FMU and you know for sure what's going on. So far it's never been wrong for me.

I'm using the strips from babyhopes.com. I've been using them for a week now and they never get any darker. But I haven't had any O cramping either so I guess I haven't O'ed yet. I'm just so frustrated with this whole process.

Exactly - the darkness or lightness of the line means nothing if it's not positive. For some people it can get darker as O approaches, but that's not the rule by any means. The darkness of the line can fluctuate a lot, but if it's negative, don't even worry about how dark it is.
That said, I know some people have caught their surge with FMU, BUT most OPK's will specifically say you should not use FMU. This is because the LH hormone metabolizes in your urine 4-6 hours after you wake up. So you *could* have missed your surge, but then again, some people can have a short surge of only like 12 hours or so, so if you only test once a day, even if in the afternoon, you could theoretically miss it.
This is why it's so important, IMO, to also track your CM. You are most fertile when you have EWCM and if you don't get EWCM, when you have creamy CM. Have you had any so far this cycle?
You also may not have ovulated yet. How long are your cycles usually? Lots of women don't ovulate until CD19 or later!
