Re: HGTV House Hunters ..... France
Is it in the room next to it? Like just a toilet in one room... sink next door kind of set up?

No not really, it looked like the closest sink was in the Kitchen... A long walk before you can wash those hands...

Re: HGTV House Hunters ..... France
When I lived in an apt in Paris, the entire apartment was an L shape, and the toilet room was this tiny room between the kitchen and a bedroom, and the bathroom, that had a sink and tub, was all the way on the other side of the apt. I thought it was very weird, bit eventually got used to it.
I used to pass my roommate (another exchange student) in the hall and say, "outta my way, I'm contaminated!!" then RUN and wash my hands,

Re: HGTV House Hunters ..... France
Many houses in Europe have two rooms, a bathroom...with a bath/shower (if that) and a sink, and a separate toilet in a small room next door. My in laws have this, and their house was built in the 50's, and they have sinks in the bedrooms. Very common.
eta...my in laws have just had their first shower installed, in their laundry room.

Re: HGTV House Hunters ..... France
Yes, that's the norm.
A separate room for the toilet. It's all by itself. That room is usually next to the bathroom. Some Water Closet have a very small sink but it's not common. In tight spaces the toilet is in the bathroom but it's because of space. In houses, upper scale appts and luxury condos the toilet is always in a separate room.

I think that's in England.
Never heard of a sink in a bedroom in France.

I didn't watch this particular episode, but I love watching these International House Hunters to see what the normal set up is in other countries.

Re: HGTV House Hunters ..... France
Old houses in Australia have it as well. I lived in a house with three other people and we had this set up. I really liked it, because one guy used to take long showers and it was nice if I had to use the toilet I could. I would just wash my hands in the kitchen if that was the situation.
