What do I do?? (diaper related)

For the last few days DD (who is 2 months old) has been pooping through every diaper! It goes straight up her back mostly... even when i change her right after she goes. All of her clothes are getting ruined and i've had to wash out her car seat and swing numerous times!

I've been using pampers swaddlers size 1 and they seem to fit great... but is there a better diaper that will stop this from happening?

I think we may have to go to a size bigger....How much does she weigh?
I had this same problem and had to go with a size larger.

I would try a size bigger on the diapers.

Re: What do I do?? (diaper related)

The size 1's still seem kinda big though when I first put them on. But I have a bunch of size 2's so I can try them.

We go to the dr. on wednesday so i'm not exactly sure how much she weighs now but i'd say at least 12 lbs. She was 10 lbs 8 oz. at 5 weeks and she'll be 2 months tomorrow.

DD used to do that to me. Go up a size. It won't hurt.

We just recently switched to size 2's

they're a *tiny* bit big on her, but they fit better than size 1...

DD is now 12.8lbs...and almost 3 months

Sometimes going up a size helps sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes when I went up a size DD would still do it (both girls did that to me). W/ DD#2 I had to switch from swaddlers to huggies which have elastic in the back which works for us. DD stills poops out the back sometimes when she is in the bumbo or the exersaucer.

Re: What do I do?? (diaper related)

Try going up a size...if that doesn't work switch brands. Try Huggies or Luvs. DD always leaked out of the Pampers brand when we tried them....that's on top of the fact that she was allergic to them.

Re: What do I do?? (diaper related)

I find that the cheap Huggies and Pampers Swaddlers Baby Dry not New Baby are kind of stiffer and tend to hold in the poop a lot better.

After she poops for the day then I go back to using the Pampers New Baby.

I agree, try switching brands and/or going up a size. Also, make sure you're closing it nice and tight.

Re: What do I do?? (diaper related)

We had this happen to us with DD and ended up going up a size and trying the Target Up & Up brand diapers. THey are WAY cheaper but worked amazing for us! Especially if DD hasn't pooped yet for the day and we are going out we put the up & up on her to prevent any "explosions" LOL

On a separate note: I found that if I washed the clothes out in the sink as soon as DS pooped up the back, I would get the stains out. I would wash them in cold water, use hand soap and just rub the fabric together to get most of it out. Then we would spray it with 'Shout' until we were actually going to wash it in the machine. Worked like a charm!

Re: What do I do?? (diaper related)

I would try another brand. It took me forever to find "the perfect diaper" at that stage DS did well with 7th generation. But Now that he is older pampers cruisers and luvs seem to work best. Also young baby poop is just runny and terrible, I dont think too many diapers can contain it....lol
I would wash her clothes right away and use a spray like dreft before putting it in the wash.
