I had my baby boy 2 weeks ago!
Well, I'm a little late in posting, but I'm happy to announce that my baby boy Alexander James was born on March 10, at 10:04 PM.
My birth story wasn't how I expected it, but turned out great--
I woke up at 2 AM on March 10, nine days before my due date, with a splitting headache. You know when you just have a gut feeling that something is not right? So even though I felt silly, I called the OB. He told me to get to the hospital asap. Sure enough, my blood pressure (which had been IDEAL thru the whole pregnancy) had suddenly skyrocketed. They put me on magnesium sulfate, and it was under control after just an hr or two, but by 6 AM they decided to induce labor with Cervidil. I was only 1 cm dilated and hardly effaced at all. The Cervidil was supposed to work over the course of 12 hours.
Well, I had contractions for about 9 of those 12 hrs, and.... it totally didn't work. They checked me at the end and I had made zero progress. Even worse, I was showing a low platelet count. They offered me the chance to do another round of Cervidil, but warned me that if my platelets dropped significantly more, I would not be able to get either a spinal or an epidural!  I had no desire to have an unmedicated vaginal birth and especially not an emergency c-section under general anesthesia, so I told them I didn't want to be induced anymore. Instead I wanted a c-section while I still was able to get the spinal. So that was arranged, and Alex entered the world just a few hours later :) He was 7 lbs and 20 inches long.
The first few days after the c-section were definitely painful, but nothing that prescription-strength Motrin didn't take care of. Also, being in the hospital, you can really take care of yourself and allow yourself to heal. A week after the surgery I felt pretty much fine. I always was scared that I'd have to have a c-section, but it's funny, now I'm really glad I went that route.
Alex is a total joy! He is nursing well and sleeping well... the biggest problem is that he's wetting through all his outfits. I don't know what I'm doing wrong with the diapers. I wish I had pictures to share but I haven't uploaded them yet.

Reading your birth story is really encouraging because I am going to be induced and I was afraid of having a c-section if I was not progressing. Read this has made me feel better. Thank you.

Congratulatons..that is great. When you change his diaper make sure you stick his "peechaleachie" down. It worked for all my nephews.

Thank you for the tip about pointing it down! I haven't been paying attention to its placement at all! I also am starting to suspect these Kirkland diapers we got as a gift maybe aren't absorbent enough??? Might try Pampers or something instead.

Yes pampers are great. Kirkland wipes are awesome but I have heard the diapers are not the best.

Having nephews you need a name for it...my 3 year old nephew says my peechaleachie hurts its facing up. Poor kid has no idea.

I'm glad your Csection went well & you have no regrets! More importantly....Congratulations on your new !
Try tightening the diaper on the top more. Don't worry about his umbilical cord being pressed - I was told by the neonatologist that there is no sensation any more. Also Luvs seemed to work better on my son.

congrats. we had the same problem with the diapers my daughter was a big girl 9lbs 13 oz and she wet through her clothes constantly all i did was wash every 3 days. i found it was the huggies so i switched to pampers swaddles and it made a big difference. also make sure the diaper is really far up in the back and you cant see the little butt. good luck to you.
