Anyone getting their SO an MVP gift (aka push present for papa)?

"most valuable partner" Chat Icon

I think I am going to get dh a little something b/c he's been so awesome. something he mentioned wanting.

we've decided the $11k Chat Icon Chat Icon we spent on having our fireplace reopened was the real "push" present so not going to crazy. I'll also be going shopping for myself for nice clothes again once Newts gets here...so that is good enough for me.

I'd say what I was getting him, but he lurks Chat Icon and as small as it is, I don't want to blow up the spot. Chat Icon

anyone else?

I did.... I gave him a daughter! Chat Icon

Actually "our" push present was hiring a baby nurse for 3 weeks. Best $$ we ever spent.

Nope, his push present was the fact that I gave him a son to carry on his name! Chat Icon

Actually, I don't believe in push presents so nothing was given either way for us when DS was born. And the same will go for #2 when he/she comes.

Not to take away from the very sweet idea that you want to do for your DH, but no.

His present was me not making him visit the emergency room while at the hospital. How many times can a woman be asked 'are you in pain now' during contractions and not want to rip him a new one?

So that was his present-to make it home with us. Oh yeah, and a baby. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Same.

My husband is a wonderful, amazing partner, but he deserved NOTHING after me being pregnant and going through labor.

My son peed on my husband in the hospital on the very first day of his life. My husband called it his "squirt present" Chat Icon

I guess we'll see how he does! I'm not opposed to it but so far he's only so-so. Doesn't go out of his way to do anything for me but he's been to every doctor's appointment and even stopped complaining after he got yelled at for it. It's not a bad idea though!

I would love to get DH something special. Not sure what yet though Chat Icon. He's been so great throughout this whole pregnancy and working his tail off to get everything in order for this little one's arrival.

Maybe a trip back to Italy Chat Icon?

Re: Anyone getting their SO an MVP gift (aka push present for papa)?

I think it is a really nice idea...

I wouldn't buy him something as nice as what he bought me, but we have been through a lot (ectopic pregnancy and infertility) and he has been a fantastic partner every step of the way. If I could think of something small, I just might do it.

Any ideas?

Re: Anyone getting their SO an MVP gift (aka push present for papa)?

see, but to argue the "the labor and baby is enough" point...

he has picked up in every way that I have fallen off during this pregnancy. he has taken care of me, done things for me, and is physically working VERY hard on things in our home.

plus, he's had to LIVE with me during this whole thing...that in and of itself deserves a small token of my gratitude and esteem.

I am not one for elaborate gifts for the woman either...I think the child is the GIFT for both the mother and the father....this is more like "I became a father today" type of gift.

believe me..if you knew what it was, you may change your view Chat Icon Chat Icon

nope, sorry lol His present is his son/daughter and for him to be lucky enough to not have me scream at him while in labor! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA: I also don't think a push present for me is necessary either.

Then his gift is staying married to you. This is part of marriage, to love, honor, respect, do the laundry, clean the dishes, mop the floors when all I feel like doing is sitting on the couch eating my pickles and chocolate chip cookies.

But I am curious what the gift is!Chat Icon

ETA: Ok, I think the gift you want to give is a good idea. Chat Icon Chat Icon

No-I love him like crazy, but no present for him (and probably no present for me either).

Re: Anyone getting their SO an MVP gift (aka push present for papa)?

DH has been amazing through this pregnancy (taking care of me, getting me all of my cravings, rubbing my back, working OT, etc) but I had to go through just as much (just in different ways) his present is the baby and as a bonus if its a boy he's getting to name it after him (even though im strongly opposed to it, so that's his present)

This is actually easy for me - DH loses every present I get him (watches, wallets, earphones, sunglasses, ipods, and the list goes on) so I will likely buy him a card and write something from the heart.

No present plans. But if I had a really good idea than I would get him one!

Same here. We have so many other expenses with baby coming that to add something else to the mix is just not an option. He gets a son, and I get to not be PG anymore (sorry I'm unusually uncomfortable today).

We don't do push presents the baby is present enough for both of us. If you really want to get him something maybe pick up a #1 dad shirt he can wear right after the baby is born. you can surprise him with it in the hospital.

ITA with everything you said.

I planned on getting something but instead I think we'll be going to Aruba for New Years as a joint gift to ourselves before little one arrives.

Re: Anyone getting their SO an MVP gift (aka push present for papa)?

I looove your idea, and my DH has been pretty great throughout all this so far. But, I think carrying his child for 9 months and who knows what type of labor I'll be going through will be well enough as a push gift for him. LOL. He'll have a DS... to carry on his name. LOL. Enough for me... HA. Besides, he's already SUPER SPOILED from me in all sences.... Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA: I may be getting him a tee that says This Daddy Changes Diapers LOL. Since he's soooo clueless on it now LMAO!
