flu shot?

I'm sure it has been asked, but have you girls gotten the flu vaccines. I am on the fence about it....

I got one...they make mercury free ones for women who are pregnant or who want to be pregnant. That's what I took...I know my doctor pushes his patients to take it when they are pregnant and I wanted to preempt that and take it before getting pg...

I got one at work. I am in healthcare so this year we are all required to get one. I really didn't want one though and this was my first flu shot ever. It is recommend for pregnant women though.

It is recommended for PG women so I will be getting it. My company is also pushing all of us to get it and paying for any cost we incur to get it. My DH also deals with patients all the time on the ambulance so I'd rather be safe than sorry.

ETA: I just read that you wrote vaccineS. I will NOT get the H1N1 vaccine when it is available and it is not recommended for PG women from what I understand.

I use to get it every year working in health care also. I have not had it this year. I am not against it, just haven't been to the doctor to get it. DH is very against it.

Got my seasonal flu shot already. No big deal. I've NEVER gotten sick from it (take it every year). I don't understand why people would be against it.

The H1N1 is very recommended for preg women.

I'm concerned about the very high percentage of pregnant women in the overall deaths due to H1N1 just this past year.

It would be ideal for it to be available now... and take it before pregnancy.

I ...... just...... don't........ know......... But this is on my mind a lot lately! Especially since I teach and it can spread like wildfire in the classroom!

I honestly do NOT think I will be getting the swine vaccine but am considering the regular flu vaccine.

Right now, I have huge things of Lysol, Clorox wipes, antibacterial pumps, etc in my room. I also keep the windows open a crack to get in some fresh air... and of course I talk to my kids constantly (they are in middle school) about covering up their germs. Luckily, they are pretty great about it!

I'm just trying to do all I can to not get sick WITHOUT the vaccine..... We'll see how it goes..


Also, I probably had swine flu last spring. (which is why I am a germaphobe now)

I got the regular flu shot, but I dont think I will be getting the swine flu.... I feel like it hasnt been out long enough for us to know the side effects or things like that...

i'm on the fence as well about the regular flu shot, definitely not getting the H1N1 shot.

I am getting one this year. I usually don't, but they recommend it for pregnant women. I am not getting the H1N1 vaccine. My job offers free flu vaccines during their health fair in Nov, so I will be getting it then. Last year I got the flu really bad and nearly had pnemonnia as well (my doctor was in shock when the xrays came back negative). I don't want that to happen again this year.

Will likely get both. The side effects/ risks for getting the H1N1 vax should be very similar to the regular flu shot and with the statistics showing a 4X increased risk for pregos who get swine flu being hospitalized/death/miscarrying I won't be messing around with it.
