CS Vs Natural...what are your thoughts?
Anyone have a preference? What are your thoughts? Which do you think is best?
I am fearful after seeing my sister go through two terrible CS's of having to get one...

A csection is major abdominal surgery. I would not have one unless it was medically necessary.

The doctor told me though that if my child is more than 6 lbs i may not be able to...

I really would like to avoid a CS as much as possible. It is major surgery, and the recovery scares the crap out of me. I am planning to go natural. I am hoping to find a doctor/midwife who is supportive of my wishes. As long as everything is normal in the pregnancy & the baby is healthy. I do understand sometimes there is a need for a CS, but am praying I never have a reason to get one.

i know there's more of a risk with CS, but if for some reason i need to have one, then so be it.
I'm don't 'need' to have natural birth

I elected to have a csec w/ my first DC, very happy with my decision. I was losing sleep for weeks over delivering the baby naturally. DC head circ was huge so I was scared to death

Similar story! DS was 9lbs 14oz and is very broad. I wasnt progressing on my own and my OB was afraid that i would need a c/s either way. As my Dr said its not he head so much that is the issue(mind you my DS's head is off the charts!), its the shoulders So after agonizing I scheduled a c/s for my due date.
Best decision for me. I had a quick recovery, was out of the hospital 3 days later with no pain meds. I sometimes think "oh I missed out" on having a medicated v-birth (I was getting an epi all the way!) but in the end my result couldnt have been better, DS and I were healthy.
My OB feels that one reason my recovery was so good is because my body didnt labor first so it had to recovery from only the c/s, not labor and surgery.
I wanted a regular v-birth but in the end I am happy with my decision for a scheduled c/s

and have you both seen the size of my kids head??
he has been over 100% for head circumference since day 1~~~

I had a c/s after a failed induction. My recovery was great and when I get PG with the next one I will pick a date and have another c/s

great story! I labored for a while because I wasn't in extreme pain so the nurse totally did not take me seriously when calling my doc. so it took me a bit to recover

and have you both seen the size of my kids head??
he has been over 100% for head circumference since day 1~~~
did you have a c section? I hope you did! DS head is 97% and I didn't want to be ripped from here to high heavens

you ladies are freaking me out DH has a melon, and was over 10lbs at birth, I have a normal sized head but was 8lbs 6oz at birth. I am so scared now I am going to have monster baby with a dome.

I didn't want a C-section, it's not at all what I planned BUT it's what I ended up with. I can tell you based on my experience that it wasn't fun. The recovery was long, the first few days were torture but the only bright side is it gets better each day. I wish I had the experience of a vaginal birth but at the end of the day as long as my DD was born healthy that's all that mattered.

I feel the same way. I really want to deliver naturally. I would only have a c-section if it was medically necessary.

ITA. I really wanted to deliver vaginally, but due to my DS being breech, I required a CS. I just wanted to say, I can not imagine why anyone would actually elect for a CS. It is major major surgery and it was so difficult caring for my DS while recovering. And I am still feeling the effects of the CS three months later (numbness, puffiness, tenderness and itchiness at the scar). For me, I would do anything for a VBAC next time around.

If I can go natural, I want that, absolutely. I have five younger cousins, and all of them were born by c/s. It's not something I'd pick unless my baby's life or my life were in danger. It's major surgery with a long recovery. JMO.

Same here! I was induced because my water was low and after 24 HOURS of going nowhere... I had a c/s. I was a little disappointed I wasn't having a VB, but one of the nurses basically said...you got pregnant to have a healthy baby, not to have a VB, so it doesn't matter how the baby gets here. She was right
