System after Lupron treatment?

After a 6 month treatment of Lupron and not having a period or any kind of female functions for that matter for that whole time, I know it can take 2-3 months for my cycle to come back. But is it normal for my cycle to not be back to normal after having a period and ovulation?

I believe I ovulated about 5-5.5 weeks after the Lupron was completely out of my system and then got my period almost 2 weeks later like I used to. But as of now, I should have ovulated already, but still haven't. We're not TTC right now, but I'm trying to see how my system is. Is it normal for me not to have ovulated yet? I'm on CD21 right now. I don't know what CD I ovulated last since I ovulated before my period came back. Do you think I will still ovulate or just get my period? Is it just going to take some time to get back on track?

im glad someone out there is asking questions like this! not many people post about taking lupron...im not at the stage you are at, yet, but im going to be taking my third shot on monday...so far its helping, which is a relief, and we arent trying to conceive, just to get rid of these damn cysts..its my second time in 10 years having them and im SO over it! i had two huge ones but they couldnt operate because of my blood pressure..so i was put on the shot...i had two cysts, one on each ovary...after two shots, the doctor cant see one anymore and since the last shot the larger one decreased by 20% (it went from a 7 to a 5 in whatever the are measured in)...sorry if it seems like im rambling, but i just feel like venting...i obviously still dont have a period, but after reading your post, i have a realistic idea of when it will kick back in...please feel free to respond or email me if you want to vent...its tough to find people who know what you are FEELING, because as we know, its not pleasant...if you do find any good forums please pass them on because i havent been able to find any....thanks for reading!!

I had endometiosis back in 2001 and had to have labroscopic surgery to remove it from my left ovary. (it was 75% covered) I was on lupron for 6 months directly after surgery. I was then put back on lupron in 2003 for a year because of the same type of cramping I felt the 1st time. I was seeing a reproductive endocrinologist at North Shore hospital and he told me that a 2nd surgery before children might ruin my chances of trying to conceive so that's why they put me on the lupron for a year. It's now obviously 5 years since Ive been off it, and have been on 3 different types of BCP since then, and have only been TTC for a month -but the thought still lingers in my head if the lupron stays in my system & will it hinder our chances of TTC??? I'd be very interested to see if anyone else is going through this. Good post! Thanks!

i see dr. rosenfeld at north shore...im actually going to see him tomorrow and will throw your questions out as general ones to the nurse who gives me the shot and see what im told...i am pretty sure the lupron does not stay in your system because this doctor knows i WILL want to conceive at one point, made that abundantly clear, and i also know that when my shot wears off, i can feel my body kicking back into work...get real bad ovary pain and the doctor confirmed that for me last week...i have a feeling that depending on how many shots we have had (this will be my third successfully!), it might take our bodies time to adjust to not having the lupron in our systems..im wondering how many shots you all have had? let me know if you guys have any more questions before tomorrow morning and ill see what i can find out!

Thanks for the replies and sharing your stories. Not that I want anyone else to do with Endo it is nice to know I'm not alone.

I had 6 shots total. My doctor said it's not exactly safe to do Lupron longer. I was so scared and hesitant to do it at all, but have had an easy going experience with it.

If you wouldn't mind asking, ask the doctor what do you do next if the Lupron didn't make the cysts go away??? Basically it didn't work. I have Stage IV Endo so, severe. Already had a Lap, (got PG right after that) and anything else I do to try to control it didn't work and now the Lupron failed on me. I want so badly to have another baby, but now I'm not sure I can. If the strongest medicine for Endo didn't work, the Endo is tainting the environment, there's no way I can get PG. My doctor doesn't want me to have another Lap either because it will cause more scar tissue. I just can't win. Day after day the endo gets worse and worse and there doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it. It just always comes back regardless of what I do.

im actually going to write down all the questions we have...im worried about the endo also and having at least one child naturally...i didnt know about the 6 shot max-thats good to know...and i agree with the forum...i wrote somewhere that i have a very supportive husband, but unless you are the one having the problems, you just dont know what it feels like physically..and im glad we have each other to vent to and are all local! will keep you updated after the doctor tomorrow!

hi ladies...so i saw a nurse today to get my shot and she was SO unapproachable that i didnt get an opportunity to ask any questions..my DH even came into the room with me to see the shot (we never opened the package at home and he wanted to see how they mix it and all)...i felt like i was inconveniencing her by being there...isnt that a horrible feeling when you are at a DOCTOR'S office? anyways, just wanted to let you all know that i was thinking of all of us while i was there!
