Re: Stainless steel sink-Rust pinspots???!!!

There are cleaners for stainless steel sinks - have you tried those? I think Bon Ami is one brand. I grew up in a house that not only had stainless steel sinks, the countertops were stainless (loved them - they were the best!) and we never had a problem with that. The house I rented in Boston had stainless sinks and I never had a problem there either.

Are you using steel wool to scrub? If so, perhaps it's residue from that which stayed behind and rusted. Other than that, it's hard to figure where it's coming from, unless it's a faulty sink.

I'm gathering this isn't the same stainless steel as appliances, right? Because I wouldn't use an SOS pad on those, but I did use an SOS pad on my steel sink that we had in our apartment (before we moved) and it got rid of all the rust and made it nice and shiny.

I was told that it happened because of my Iron pots from Cephalon that I left in the sink for too long...apparently it does that when in contact with the sink and water...i was told to use lemon or lime juice...or get something from Home Depot specifically for stainless steel and rust...

I use an SOS pad when I notice the rust spots. I've had it for nearly 2 years and no problems. If I remember correctly I was even told I could use an SOS pad. Try calling hte manufacturer and see what they suggest for cleaning.
