When you get pregnant will you.....

wait the 3 months to tell anyone or will there be certain people you tell right away? I am still torn on this subject...of course I will tell DH but not sure if I would want to tell anyone else until we are free and clear.

I think about this too and I am torn...I do want to tell my parents and sis asap not sure how i can keep that a secret ...on the other hand I dont want to tell my DH side because they are BIG mouths and it will spread like wild fire. If I tell my parents we have to tell his...maybe I will wait the 8 week mark for both parties.

Sorry to hijack, but no matter what you do, it will not change the end result. Not preaching, just giving insight.

I told at 9.5 weeks for my first DS. I lost him at 20 weeks.

I told at 3 weeks 4 days for my 2nd DS. I now have a beautiful 10 month old.

Unfortunatley, it depends if you need the support of your family if forbid something did happen, or if you think they would give you support.

My mom made me promise that I would tell her about DS#2 as soon as I found out bc she felt like she missed out on 9.5 weeks of DS #1's pregnancy.

I don't know... I agree with the pp that said whatever is going to happen will happen. I know I'm going to want to tell my mom and sister ASAP. We'll see how long I can hold out

Yes, what will happen will happen, but I think some women wait the 3 months so that the entire world doesn't know their business if something should happen.

I will tell our families right away, as well as 3 very close friends. I would ideally like to wait 8-12 weeks to tell everyone else, but I'm really not sure we'll be able to keep it a secret. We're not very secretive people though. My sister already blabbed to people I used to work with that we are TTC so I highly doubt she'll be able to keep it a secret when I get a BFP.

I am def waiting the 3 months. I know that what is meant to be will be, but I just feel better with waiting.

I am still VERY torn as well. I had a friend who got pregnant a year or two ago and she announced it to the world the moment she peed on a stick. Not just her family, but everybody at work (we worked at a school then, and she would tell of the kids and their parents too). I thought it was awesome how excited she was! HOWEVER, i felt like it was a little dangerous. She did end up losing the baby a couple months in It was hard because since everybody knew about the pregnancy, this new piece of news spread as well. I felt awful. Especially when the children would ask about her baby (not understanding the concept of miscarriage).

So because of that I am definitely wary about announcing anything too early. I know that i WILL tell my family though the moment I know. We are so close, there's no way that I could keep it from them. DH's side is a little chatty so not so sure if it would be wise to tell them too quick. But I know that I'll be anxious to share it with the world (my friends at church & work). I'm still not sure exactly HOW long to wait though. I just want to be responsible with it I'm so torn.

after having a loss we are very aware of being careful about who you tell right away...
We will tell our immediate families and prob my best friend but we will try to wait until 12 weeks to tell everyone else. And prob will wait even longer to tell work

We will most likely tell immediate family but will wait to tell others until the 12 week mark. I do agree that what will happen will happen, but after our loss at 2 months, I'd rather keep it quiet for a while.

Everyone else (rest of family and friends, work) will know closer to 3 months.

I don't know how we'd react if we lost the baby, so not sure if i'd want others knowing that or not. Here's hoping i never have to find out.

we are 5w3d and it is HARD not to tell people

we will wait until at least 8w2d to tell family (that is our first appt) and then see from there. I will wait at least 12 weeks before I tell work

DH and I are bog mouths I guess, because we told evryone right away with DS and with this pregnancy. And my Dr. said something that rings very true. He said he couldn't understand why people don't share their happy news with everyone, yet they seem to have no issue sharing their terrible news (of a loss.) He just thinks you should have your supprt system either way. Poeple should get to enjoy and share in your happiness, and they should be there to support you, God forbid you need it. Of course, that's just my opinion and everyone needs to do what they're most comfortable with.

I always said that I wouldn't tell anyone (family included) until after the first trimester. However, I had an early miscarriage in June, after which we ended up telling both sets of parents, siblings, and a few close friends, for various reasons. So now, everyone kind of knows that we're going to be trying again. I still don't think I'll tell anyone when I get my next BFP though. I'm so nervous about the same thing happening again...I don't know...I have such mixed feelings.

I want to say that we will hold off, but we can't keep secrets. Plus, DH will be so excited I'll be lucky if I can reign him in at all on it. We'd probably tell our parents within a week (because we would want to do it face to face). As far as work, we would wait until after we've told our parents. He would probably tell his job right away because they are like family to him (it is a small store with a few employees who have all worked together for at minimum 10 years). I would tell my immediate manager because her and I are close and I know that she wouldn't tell anyone. But I wouldn't tell anyone else until after I've told the VP and AVP of my department (which I would wait to do).

We're on the fence about this. After we found out we were pregnant we told our close family right away only to have to tell them a week later I was miscarrying. So I don't know which is better because our families offered us so much support I don't know how else I would've gotten through this. So I guess we'll just wait until another BFP to decide what is best

I got pg in June and lost the baby in JUly....we told EVERYONE who would listen..lol I would tweak only 1 thing for the next time....I would leave out the extended people. We would tell our family again in the beginning as well as our close friends. I couldn't hide from them...It was so wonderful having everyones support during such a hard time...plus it was so wonderful to share the joy when we did have good news to tell. I would just tell my parents to keep their mouths shut and ont tell their friends and such...

With DD I told everyone as soon as I saw them. Told work at 7.5 weeks...due to morning sickness.

With this one I would like to wait, but don't think I will be able to.

I've always told DH that we would wait until 12 weeks to tell people - I am a nervous person by nature and of course, telling or not telling won't change an outcome, but I personally wouldn't feel comfortable for EVERYONE to know if I had a loss.

I also know that everyone in our families have very big mouths! So even if we just told my mom, she would tell her twin sister (my aunt) and my aunt would tell my grandma who would then tell my other aunt and rest of the family. Same with my MIL. So we pretty much know that once we tell our parents, we'll be telling our whole families and we won't be able to announce to anyone other than parents

Of course, if I end up having major morning sickness, I would probably have to tell people earlier. I figure we could try to wait until at least the first doctor's appointment/sonogram which is around 8 week or so and then decide.

we will probably tell family right away and some close friends at 8w after a sono. i would hope to be able to wait until 12w to tell work and everyone else but i'm afraid i will be showing by then. with DD people were guessing at 11w and most people assumed it at 14w (I didn't tell work until 16w, after Christmas break)...so I would bet people will be guessing even earlier the next time.

I will probably just tell immediate family right away and wait a bit for friends and extended family.

We will tell our parents and immediate family and MAYBE a few close friends. IMO, these are the people that I would want to know even if something did God forbid go wrong - DH and I are very close with both sides of our families so it would be very difficult to keep them out of the loop as to what is going on. Plus, my mom would probably go ballisic if I didn't tell her
