Ugh, tell me about it! I have been married almost 2 years and have gained QUITE a few lbs. since then (some due to medication I was on last year and then never lost). I am much bigger than I want to be and I think that being pregnant won't be as easy for me, especially since I have some back issues! Ah well, c'est la vie! lol. I have a lot going on right now and losing weight is not on my priority list although it really SHOULD be.

I think about this too. I see all the ladies on the pregnancy board w/ there really cute baby bumps. Their thin arms, legs, etc.. They are all belly. I am so scared what I am going to look like preggo. I don't want to look like a house. I am scared I am just going to look fat, and not look pregnant. I really want to get pregnant now, but part of me wishes I go lose some lbs first. I am just going to trying to exercise more before we get the bfp, and then do low impact once I am pregnant. Walking is awesome when your pregnant. I just worry about being in good shape to have the strength to push the baby out.

Re: Over Weight and TTC

I, of course, have the same concerns (as I feel like most women do). Since the wedding I have put on quite a few pounds and even though I don't consider myself "fat", I'm still not at the weight that I want to be. I don't think that being overweight would AFFECT your ability to get pregnant though (as there are a lot of obese and overweight people in the world who do in fact conceive and give birth to healthy children). But I get that you're worried about what it'll do to your body. My mother gained nearly 80 pounds when she was pregnant and I just cannot afford that much weight on me. no way. I just need to keep reminding myself that I am NOT eating for two. Cravings need to be controlled. Plus exercising makes labor a lot easier on your body. So I am determined to take care of myself and gain as little weight as possible (while still eating of course, and staying healthy for the baby).

It's totally normal to think about it though. You're not alone.

As i sit here eating a bowl of Edys peanut butter ice cream!...I just wanted to add that I have been trying to "prepare" by going to the gym and just going for a walk after dinner with DH...but no worries you are not alone. i just feel like if I get in the habit now when I do become pg it might not pack on so badly..i guess only time will tell

I've already resigned myself to that Chat Icon . I'm about 25lbs overweight and i feel like my stomach looks pregnant already (but i'm not of course)
Can't even imagine what i'm going to look like when/if i actually am.
I've never been a thin person, but this is the heaviest i've ever been.
i have to be honest that it's really bothering me, but there's not a whole lot i can do about it except watch what i eat and hope that i can lose it after giving birth (ha, delusional i know)

Re: Over Weight and TTC

I certainly know what you mean. I lost 50 pounds, but I am NO WHERE near the weight I should be. On top of it, I have severe back issues. My being overweight is already a problem for my back, which is why I had to lose some weight. I'm scared being PG on top of it is going to put me on bedrest. But my OB said that I should stress over lsoing the weight because if I continue to eat healthy it's possible I may actually end up losing weight while PG and after if I BF.

I'm also sad that I won't have that cute baby bump and will just look disgustingly obese, but it is what it is and I just won't put off having a child because of how I'll look. It'll be worth it in the end!Chat Icon

Re: Over Weight and TTC

Ladies, I know exactly how you feel. When I found out I was PG this year, I thought "oh God, wish I would have lost some weight first" & here I am again TTC & really could lose 10 lbs+, not "fat" but not where I want to be. As for the PG girls & their baby bumps...think about all the PG girls who don't post their pictures...its not that all PG girls are skinny, its just that the others don't post their photos Chat Icon Good luck to us all for weight loss & PG in our near futures Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Oh geeezzzz I gotta lose weight too.... Im afraid that people wont be able to realize if Im pregnant or just fat!!! When I gain weight, its all in my face, arms, stomach, etc.... I see all the beautiful PG ladies that are all belly!!! I want that to be me, but I doubt itChat Icon

Maybe thinking about this can make me motivated to workout.... I hope it will...

girls - i can't properly express how much i feel your pain....

i was overweight prior to ttc and when i got pregnant - i had the experience that you all dread. I did NOT look pregnant. I didn't look fat - i just looked like i let myself go. All these women post about how people ask me how far along i am, people ask me if i'm pregnant with twins...NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON ASKED ME ANYTHING....

it was the one time in my life i wanted nothing more than a bump and i had a tiny one.... I wound up with GD and wound up losing 2 pounds during the pregnancy (and 30 after)....but believe me - that was just a drop in the bucket. It still kills me that i didn't have the adorable baby bump...

I'll never forget when dave and i did our hospital tour - i was 38 weeks pregnant and there were women who were 20 weeks and 15 weeks who had these BEAUTIFUL bellies and then there's me...when they asked me on the tour how far along i was - everyone was like, WHAT?!?!?! i cried when we got in the car...

BUT - in the end - it's what's healthy for you and the baby....Emma is perfectly healthy and that is ALL THAT matters!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Over Weight and TTC

I completely understand. DH and I are not officially TTC just yet - a few more months, but I am def working out now and trying to loose the weight. I am not really overweight, but I am not comfortable in my own skin yet. I do see all the pictures of girls with the thin bodies and all belly baby bumps and I want to look like that so bad. I am making it my point now to loose the weight, so that when I do get a BFP I will be ok with adding extra weight onto me. Trust me if I got the BFP now, I would be thrilled and I would deal with the weight, but since I have some time, I am trying to work it off now. Good Luck to everyone Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

fear not! I am slightly overweight, well, I could stand to loose 20-25 lbs easily Chat Icon I told myself I had a few months before we concieved to loose the weight. Nope, we got pregnant our first month which is GREAT but now I feel like i will just gain MORE Chat Icon

i dont think you should immediately think that weight will prevent you from concieving unless you are mobidly obess. In that case, your periods can be out of whack. Stay positive and dont let the weight hold you back. It is deff. possible Chat Icon

LOTS OF LUCK AND BABY DUST!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Over Weight and TTC

I fear this with ttc-ing for a 2nd.....with the first I went on ww and lost weight to be the thinnest I had been since hs before ttc-ing....I gained 50lbs with that pregnancy and I still am carrying a little over 10lbs of it that I can't seem to get off....so Im so scared that since I'm already starting off with those 10lbs or so and if I gain the same amount with 2nd I think I will just feelChat Icon

We didn't start ttc-ing yet but I think I'm going to try my best to get at least half of the 10lbs off beforehand but I'm not killing myself over it if it comes off great if not I'm goign to have to get over it start ttcing and deal with trying to lose all of the weight from both pregnancies after baby #2 is born
