? about Ovulation kit

Please bare with me, as this is my first time using these things lol.

So I've been using them the last 3 days, first day only 1 line, second and now today I have two lines. However, the package says that if the 2nd line isn't as dark as the first line that you're still not ovulating. Then why the second line, I just don't get it lol.

Well I have to go to the doctors, so I'm sorry to post and run, but I hope to come back to someone telling me I'm not crazy and this is just a silly thing to tease me! lol

Unlike a pregnancy test which will ONLY have a second line if you are pregnant (since the test looks for HCG - the pregnancy hormone - in your urine), the ovulation tests are looking for a SURGE in your luteinizing hormone (aka LH).

Basically, women always have SOME LH in their systems. But when you are getting ready to ovulate, you will have a surge in the amount of LH. That means that you will ovulate 12-36 hours later. So it doesn't matter how light or non existant the test line on the OPK test is - you are ONLY looking for a line that's as dark or darker than the control line.

So one day you could have a light test line, the next no test line at all, the next a medium test line, the next a light test line, etc etc etc. Doesn't matter how dark it is, except for when it's as dark or darker than the control line. Once it is, that means you will be ovulating in the next 12-36 hours and you should make sure to BD the day you get your + and for the next 2 days.

Once you POAS (pee on a stick) automatically a line is going to show up that is the "reference line" (everyone gets that) If you don't see a second line OR if you see a second line and it is NOT darker then the "reference line" you are not fertile yet. The Second Line has to be darker then the "reference line".

For example...
the line on the right automatically appears once you pee....the line on the left lets you know if you are about to ovulate...see how CD 22 is darker then the refernce line...that is what you need to look for.

thank you both soo much!! I was so confused, but didn't know that you already have LH in your system, so that makes tons of sense! I thought maybe it was because I was getting ready to ovulate hahah.
