Testing when you have PCOS

OK so since i'm new and clueless i figured i'd ask.

I have PCOS and have never had a regular period. I have no idea what my cycle would be like obviously.

I had IUI 2 weeks ago tomorrow and so far Chat Icon I don't know when i should test. I have no way of knowing if i'm late.

Any thoughts?

Re: Testing when you have PCOS

Did the doctor give you a time frame for after the IUI?

I looked up some stuff for you & it says to wait 10 - 12 days after the procedure to use a home test. At 10 days they warn it may be too early and you can get a false negative. Where you taking any medication contain HcG? That can alter the results, and they say you have to wait 10 days after stopping the meds.

Good luck!!!!!! Chat Icon

Re: Testing when you have PCOS

Honestly i don't remember but i'm pretty sure she said to callif i didn't get AF in 2 weeks (which as i mentioned is tomorrow). They said i could do a test if i wanted to know but from what i've seen online, it could be too soon based on when i was ovulating.

Fingers crossed.

Re: Testing when you have PCOS

Well, since I am assuming the timing of your IUI was based on when you were ovulating, you would be able to test now and get an accurate result.
Since you ovulated, you will get your period this month if you are not pregnant.

LMAO thanks.I might seem patient but on the inside i'm Chat Icon I totally want to PIAS but i put the estimated date on babycenter and it said to wait until Sunday to test so i figure i'd be better off waiting until then. PLUS i know when my sister had my niece, test was negative beause it was too early.

DH is so cute because he's so positivei'm PG. I'm such a pessimist and he's a total optomist.

I'm just freaked out by everything i've been reading online. Especially since i have PCOS. Since i never had a regular period, how can i assume whether or not i'm late. I'd 'assume' that since i had the procedure and i ovulated, i'd be getting it would be around now.

I'm calling them around lunchtime. Can't do it while i'm at my desk.

ITA!
IUI would have been done when you had ovulated. So either AF is coming in the next few days or your PG.

I'd test!Chat Icon

I'm just worried that if i AM PG, it might be too soon to test. Aren't you supposed to wait until after the missed period?

I had an IUI done this last cycle (the cycle I got pregnant) and I tested 8 days after the IUI and got a positive!
Yes normally that's way too early but if your IUI was almost 2 weeks ago, chances are it might show up now since AF is due in the next couple days

eta- I also have PCOS :)

Its been two weeks since your IUI. That is enough time. I tested positive 12 days after my IUI on an HPt. At 14 dpiui, my beta was 150.
I also have PCOS.

Re: Testing when you have PCOS

I didn't end up taking the test.

I'm really upset right now. This afternoon i noticed that i was spotting and I got extremely distracted because of it. I still don't know if its AF or not. It's not heavy but just enough to upset me. DH wasn't home so i called my mother. She said to see how the night went and test in the morning. Now i feel really crampy . I know that sometimes that happens when you are PG but unfortunately i'm convinced that its my period.

Re: Testing when you have PCOS

Chat Icon My best friend had the same thing when she got her BFP. She was really cramping & thought AF was coming for sure. So there may still be hope. I agree with your momma. Wait it out and test w/ FMU if AF hasn't reared her bitchy head.

Re: Testing when you have PCOS

That stinks! Are you talking about the control line not being correct? I would go get another test, get a digital. Hold her pee for 4-5 hours if you can, if not try again in the morning w/ FMU. I would collect & dip the POAS so if there is another issue you can run out and get another one to dip. Re: Testing when you have PCOS

Yeah there was nothing in the control line and the box said that means invalid results. I'm debating on what i want to do. I think next time i'm just going to go with the digital. It was so much easier with OK just more expensive.

Later in the day a few hours later there was more blood. It's still not a tremendous amount but then again thats usually how it is the first day. At this point i'm really thinking that its AF unfortunately.

I'm really depressed and i don't think DH really understands.

Thanks for your kindness!
