What has happened at your very first TTC appointment?

I scheduled my appointment!! Chat Icon And, I'm glad I called when I did because he was so booked I already have to wait a month!! Chat Icon

Anyway, I have a good idea of what I plan to ask the dr....... but is that it? The receptionist over the phone said there's no exam, just talking.

Other than my questions, what else is discussed? Chat Icon

ETA: My DH said he will come if I would like him to Chat Icon I love how into this he is! Anyway, do you think that's necessary?

My doc took a whole bunch of blood for testing, i.e. anemia, stds, and various cultural, genetic diseases

My doctor did this as well..since DH and I are both of European decent, she also recommended I start taking a prenatal vitamin...just an FYI it is a lot of blood so be prepared! haha I went by myself (it was during my annual). Good luck!Chat Icon

my doc also sent me for genetic testing cause both DH and I are jewish and there are several genetic diseases they test to see if you are a carrier for.
other than that it was a regular exam for me cause it was a new doc.
she said not to worry if it didnt happen right away since i told her i had been on the pill for 12+ years prior.

ok thank you ladies! So, basically expect some conversation and blood test.

I hate needles but if I'm going to go through the pain of child birth, I better get over the agony of a stupid needle! Chat Icon

Also, for the record, I'm guessing this is something I can go alone for, right? Will DH need to get a blood test too by his own dr? (genetic testing)........

Oh yeah, bring a cook or something b/c they do take a lot of blood. I counted 13 viles.Chat Icon

DH doesn not need testing at that point. You can go solo. After your conversation, if the doc needs him to come, she will let you knnow.

Why do they need to take 13 viles???!?!?!

ETA: Bump.

Anyone? I'm really starting to freak out about all this blood! Anyone know why they need so much?
