Birth Announcement Question/Opinion with poll

Birth Announcement Question/Opinion with poll
If we have a girl her name will be Aspasia Lynn, after DH's mother. Most of my family and our friends will call her Staci just bc its more common. Did anyone do a birth anouncement that said something like this:
Aspasia (Staci) Lynn
Just wondering if thats stupid or should I just deal with the phone calls asking "what did she name the baby?". Our friends and my extended family are not gonna know where the name came from why we did it or how to even say it probably. I'm just worried I dont want to deal with any confusion or stupid questions about our baby and our decision.

Hmmm...tough one. I don't think I would want to include the 'nickname' on the announcement, but that's just me. I think friends and extended family will eventually hear it through word-of-mouth or directly from you that you will be calling her Staci, no?

I agree with this post  I say leave out the nickname after time people will call her by her nickname just leave that gorgeous name on the announcement

Thank you so much! You have no idea how much I've been driving myself crazy with this name! I've been saying it over and over in my head every single day since the second I found out I was pregnant. I agreed to do this for DH and his family tradition. I've been so upset telling some people this name and they laugh or suggest other names. I cant believe how cruel grown adults can be! I've had a hard enough time with how uncommon my name was growing up I dont want my unborn child to go through it either thats why we agreed on a nickname more as a backup. I hope she's strong enough to not wanna use it and be called her grandmother's name no matter how unpopular it is. People have made me cry over and over to my DH bc of their cruelty and rudeness. I can't thank you enough on how supportive you ladies are. I know it seems so stupid that its just a name but it really hurts me that not only is this what we have already decided - as in no room for other suggestions - but also that there is a reason for this name we didnt just make it up to be different. I hope people start to understand after they meet her (if it even is a girl). Thats why I decided to stop telling me, I couldnt take defending it anymore. It was killing me thinking that people are gonna be doing this to her as she grows up. I've expressed my feelings to DH about all this and thats why we have agreed on Staci as an "American" backup. Aspasia is pronounced Aspa-sEEa and is Greek.
If you've read this far thank you so much again you ladies really have helped me feel better about our decision and helped me be strong enough to deal with the closeminded rude people out there (which unfortuneately includes my friends and family).

I totally agree with the ladies here! Your daughter's name is BEAUTIFUL and it's in homage to her great-grandmother. How dare people make you feel that way! DH and I are dealing with the same thing on our end with the name we have chosen and to be honest - we love it... and I'm sure our son will too! Your daughter will love her name and when she learns where it is from, even more so!
