is this normal?......
I just called to make an appointment with my dr. after a positive result. The receptionist said I wouldn't need to get a blood test to confirm, unless there were any issues. How would I know if there were any issues?!?!? Is that normal? should I be worrying about this? UGH!!!

Re: is this normal?......
I saw in another post you go to dr prince's office...I go to him too. Same happened whenn I got my BFP. They say digitals are just as good. That practice it seems doesn't believe in taking blood work alot. I have seen other women go for beta testing a lot but they don't there...I had to force them to take my blood when things started going bad w/ my pregnancy. But looking back I understand their reasoning. It doesn't tell you anything definite...numbers are different for everyone. Just be excited and listen to the doctor. wait the 7-8 weeks to go in...and enjoy being pregnant!

I didn't go for a blood test - my OB/Gyn didn't want to see me until 8 weeks.
ETA - It's kind of better waiting because you should be able to see something on the ultrasound by then. I went at 6w4d (because I had some spotting) and it was very hard to see anything and I was a mess.

Re: is this normal?......
Same thing happened to me. I called and had to wait until 7 weeks to go in for my first appointment. No bloodwork and no betas. It was a long wait that felt like forever but it all worked out becuase I had a U/S the following day and I was able to see my little bean and hear the heartbeat. Congratulations and try to keep yourself busy during the wait until your first appointment!

Yeah, when I was pregnant, I didn't see the doctor until 8 weeks...that seems to be the norm pretty much. Hang in there!
