Re: Charlie & Jack went to the doctor today...some questions!
I think it sounds like a great idea to start at a young age.
I started way to late and it took my EBF baby forever to take milk from a cup.

I say try it! If they have an issue you can stop.
We waited until a year but my ped told us (after the fact) we could have started earlier. DS did fine with whole milk.

Re: Charlie & Jack went to the doctor today...some questions!
I'm surprised he suggested that. I'm not a doctor, but everything I've read says to hold off on giving cow's milk until 1 year. There are 2 reasons: babies have more trouble digesting cow's milk than formula or BM and it doesn't provide as many nutrients as BM and formula. I'd probably wait on giving it to them.

I would probably wait until a year b/c I think it is harder for them to digest.

Re: Charlie & Jack went to the doctor today...some questions!
I don't think it's an issue to introduce (in addition to your BM) a sippy cup of milk 1 time per day. It will get them to associate milk w/ the sippy and make it for an easier transition later on as well.
You can always dilute the milk with water if you are worried about digestion.
I introduced milk at 9 months and DS did fantastic on it. I did it slowly with small quantities in the beginning and it was never a replacement for formula.
Now at 1 year he's completely off the bottle and solely drinks out of a sippy.

Be prepared if you start too early - I starting introducing it to Ryan around 10.5 months b/c I was PG and wanted him to start getting used to it in case I dried up and he had a terrible poop issue for a few weeks.
