Here's something interesting.
When I went back later in the day to pick DS up from daycare, there was no dead squirrel carcass where I thought I ran him over. 
So either I didn't actually kill him, or someone made off with a tasty treat of road kill! 
Either way, I didn't have to see the dead body!
I had a bio teacher that would pick up non-flattened road kill and recreate their skeletns in the display case!

Even if you had the time to swerve or slam on the brakes, you should never do it. I know of so many people that have gotten in to accidents because of squirrels. I know you feel bad, but its ok
I know a really sweet older lady that will never fully recover b/c she swirved to avoid hitting a squirrel. I wish she would have ran it over.

That happened to me today...I am in Nebraska on a business trip and a flock of birds flew towards my car and one hit the windshield. It was a small bird that made a very LOUD THUMP.

it happened to me once too....i was so sad but then thought it and realized that it stunk to have the poor lil guy killed but at least i was ok....and you are too....
