Moms of toddler boys....

When did you start potty training. DS is almost 21 months and so far, other than sitting on his potty clothed shows no interest in training yet. Which is fine....I know boys tend to train later than girls, so I was just wondering when you started potty training?

Re: Moms of toddler boys....

My son started going poo-poo on the potty early...about 12 months....BUT i was not consistent with it....if I had been, I know he would have been totally poo-poo trained by now....and I started peepee when he woke up in the morning with a dry diaper for a couple of days....It's totally my fault that he is not potty-trained, but once we move we are going to do it full force. He just turned 2 last week.

Re: Moms of toddler boys....

We will start with Johnny when he is done with preschool, late June. He'll be 2 years 10 months. I don't know how long it'll take or if we'll be successful but i'll try my hardest!

he has gone a few times on the potty for us, but I consider it true "training" when THEY request to go and go on their own as opposed to sitting him on the potty here and there and hoping they go (if that makes sense).

I've been told average for boys is 3 or later, girls tend to train earlier.

we plan to try closer to age 3. My son doesnt seem ready and I would rather spend 2 weeks on it when they are ready vs. 6 months trying when he's not.

My boys both trained around 3 - still going through it with DS #2. My DD was around 2 yrs, 3mths so my experience has been the boys doing it older too.

Re: Moms of toddler boys....

DS is a little over 2.5 and we're not really there yet. Back in the winter he was doing pee on the potty fairly consistently, but not enougjh for underwer. Then he regressed and had no interest in it. He just started doing pee again this week, but it's very inconsistent. I will focus on it more in the summer when I'm off and am able to be home with him al the time.
