At what age did you start and how long did it take. Id like to start soon with ds, and wondering if there are any success stories.

Re: anyone potty train early?

DC started showing interest around 20 months by sitting on the toilet and reading books but nothing consistent till a little over 2. And always dry upon waking too! We were very laxed about it, we never felt a rush since they were showing interest so young. So one day we simply asked if they no longer wanted to wear diapers (we used Cloth Diapers) and wear underwear from then on and it was that simple! We also have the Kohler Transitions toilet seat which made it very easy!

Re: anyone potty train early?

DS is only 15 mos so we're not there yet but my goal is to have him trained before I go back to work from maternity leave, so Dec of this year which would make him 22 mos.

I am the youngest of five and only 1 of us was older than 2 when he was trained (and only 25 mos at that). The rest of us were between 16 and 22 mos so it's 100% doable. There was a huge shift in philosophy some 10-15 years ago as to when children are ready but it's not like kids' bodies have changed. If they were able to do it before I see no reason we can't do it now.

As I said, DS is still a ways off but we already invite him into the bathroom with us every time we can and when we do we tell him what we're doing (sorry, probably tmi Chat Icon) to pique his interest. So far it's working, he thinks it's hysterical when mommy pees Chat Icon

good luck!

Re: anyone potty train early?

DS is 20 months and we just bought him a potty (the FP one that looks like a frog). Its just to get him used to the idea. he sits on it sometimes but fully clothed. I also let him in the bathroom with DH or myself so he can get the idea and he likes to "flush" the toilet. I did buy a few books on starting early, but I dont personally feel he is ready quite yet. Id be interested to hear the responses also.
