Gardening plants on a budget!
I wanted some Rhododendrons for my front beds.
But the $$$ was slowing me down a bit. I needed 5 of them.
I went to Lowe's. They had smaller one for $6.98 each. There are only 15 inches or so but at least I can establish beds and leave room for growth. The bigger one were $26 and the nursery has them for $50. They even had the colors I wanted. Light pink and white.
They have a warranty of 1 year. I have nothing to lose if they die by next year.
So I got all 5 for $35.
It's best to buy bigger plants as it looks "better" but I have patience. And I can stretch the budget that way.

very true. Also check craigslist this time of year & in the fall, so many times people are getting rid of larger shrubs for free, you just have to pick them up!
With Rhododendrons, they do get REALLY large & their roots are powerful enough to do foundation damage, so even though the are small now don't plant them too close to your house.
