Toys on your registry?

Hey girls,

My husband and I added some more stuff to our registry yesterday and it got me thinking. Is it weird to put toys and books on? I see the store suggests it in their list of things to add, but somehow I can't help but wonder if it looks nervy to assume people will want to buy toys for the baby. Do you think people should concentrate more on things they "need" and less on things that are more for fun? This is our first child. We didn't go wild with the toys (how much can a small baby play with) but I'm still wondering...thanks! Chat Icon

Re: Toys on your registry?

I put very few toys if any on mine just b/c we don't want an overload of toys and I'm sure people (especially my parents and mil) will be buying plenty as times goes on anyway...

Re: Toys on your registry?

I didn't put books but I'm having a book wishing well so I'd rather have people pick their favorites.

For toys, I put a "baby's first toy box" and I think it's made by Sassy. I can't find it online but registered for it in store. It had about 10 of the first toys a baby would use. Rattle, teether, crinkly thing, etc...

Re: Toys on your registry?

I didn't really put toys, more like teddy bear stuff or the stuff that plays music, or plush stuff and I did put books on there and baby einstein videos.

Re: Toys on your registry?

We put a few "toys" on the registry. Like the crib toy and the toy the baby can lay under and kick.
Not much more than that though.

I think I put one toy, that's it...

I figure I would want the stuff I really need first....and I'm sure people will buy some toys/books anyways

Re: Toys on your registry?

I felt like the baby would get enough toys over the course of it's first year so I really didn't put any on. Just one or two things for the bath. I prefer the wood toys anyway and BRU doesn't have too much of a selection of that stuff.

Re: Toys on your registry?

I put a few of the Lamaze toys and the Infantino Barn Babies on my registry. I figured I'd rather have people buy toys that I wanted and researched than just have them pick random ones out. I'm glad I registered for them b/c DS loves those toys.

Re: Toys on your registry?

I added some. Our nursery "theme" will be classic toys so I added a red wagon that will be fashioned into diaper storage or something in the room. Also a few of the classics (maybe 3) I thought would add to the room as well as be played with in good time...

I did not register for things like a coordinating lamp, crib mobile or wall hangings so those will be my room accessories.

Re: Toys on your registry?

I put a few toys - a couple of things I was planning to buy whether someone got them off the registry or not.

I put several books, but I had a book wishing well at my shower and wanted to give people ideas if they needed them.

Re: Toys on your registry?

Thanks for the input everyone! I trimmed it down a bit after all. It wasn't crazy but I guess I felt a little odd about it (which is why I asked) Chat Icon

I agree with this. I also wanted to make sure I had enough things at every price point on the registry and toys were a good way to make sure I had some lower cost options for people to buy
