DD is still on baby food, but I recently gave her pastina and small pieces of meatball. She loved both. She's almost 8 months.

DD was around 8 months. I started with puffs, small baby finger foods, then cheese, pasta, basically anything I could mush with my fingers. Now she eats anything and everything!

6 months I started with puffs. By 7 months I was giving her yogurt, pastina, maybe some small pieces of pancakes. By 8 months there was no stopping her - she ate everything!

my DD is doing a mixture of jar and table And what a mess she is!
So far she really likes:
chicken and broccoli (chinese)
wheat calzone with turkey sausage
pasta and sauce
meatballs
chili (made mild)
pancakes
toast
CHEERIOS are an appetizer for EVERY meal! She looooooooooooooves them and smiles when the box comes out.

DS is pretty much the same age as jacen and we haven't started yet. he gets pretzel rods to suck on, we tried frozen bagels (nightmare--never again) and mashed up banana. besides that it has been jarred baby food.
i just bought a mini food processor so i can start with some of our dinner but haven't used it yet. i find it easier to just use the jars of veggies and fruit rather than make my own. DS has 2 teeth now, so i don't know when he can start having "chunkier" food.

Yeah we haven't started yet either. I tried giving him puffs the other day and he didn't get it. He would pick it up but didn't ever put it in his mouth. When i tried to put it in his mouth for him, it was like i was trying to give him peas (which he hates). He kept his mouth tightly closed and i couldn't even put it in his mouth. 
I just don't know if he's ready yet so we may take it slow.

We started with anything soft.... mac and cheese, mashed potatoes. Now Rebecca is almost 11 months, she eats anythiing we eat now just very small pieces. she LOVES cheerios.

DS started at around 7 months, just a little here and there...by 8 months it was alot more and he started rejecting his baby food.
At 9 months he would only take baby fruits sometimes veggies. I tried teh stage 3 dinners as they are alittle more chunky and he would sometimes take those too.
By 10 months we were 95% off baby food.
We started with puffs, rice, pastina, meatballs, and then we would throw things in the FP like chicken to grind it to small pieces but not puree.
ETA: DS has 3 teeth at 8 months.

Def introduce puffs. They are small enough and also dissappear once they get in the mouth.
For me, My DD has a good amt of teeth so by 6 months she was eating pasta!

That's how my dd was and she had no problems with the puffs. I know some people have cut the puffs in half at first but I never did. She never had a problem with them.

AS QUICKLY AS I COULD!!!! 
I introduced Puffs to Kristina when she was at the 6 month mark.... I started out by breaking them into 3's, then into 2's, then I let her have at them.
She was having issues with textures when I tried feeding her pastina, so I backtracked a little, and was mushing her food in my Magic Bullet to a stage 3 consistency. We just continued going forward on it, and now she is all on table food! She loves steak!!!!!!! She's 11.5 months old BTW.

DD was EBF until 6 months. Then we introduced cereal, then fruits & veggies. She had mashed real banana & sweet potato at 8 months. She had whole wheat ritz crackers & fresh pumpkin at 10 1/2 months. Since she hit 1 year we've added pasta, meatballs, and chicken.

THey are a snack for babies, they dissolve in thier mouths to help them get the hang of chewing without as much fear for us moms! They are made by gerber and are in the baby food aisle.

You can find them in the baby isle right near the baby jarred food. It's made by Gerber.

By 5 months we were doing yogurt and cut up pieces of fruit and cheese. Around 6 months we started with softer meats like meatloaf and meatballs. By 9 months he waspretty much eating anything we were. I wouldn't even order from the kids menu, he would just eat off of our plates- plus it was much healthier that way. DS also had teeth very early and showed interest in "real" food around 4 months, so I may have been a little earlier with stuff then other moms.

for puffs, no teeth needed...she may just gum them but again, they disinegrate (sp?) once it touches saliva.
Like another poster stated, cut in 1/2 and give to DD...if that makes you more comfortable.
I did that in beginning too but realized it really wasnt necessary.

We just started over the last couple of weeks or so - we are starting small though - pastina, tiny tiny pieces of chicken, meatballs, macaroni.
She still mainly eats stage 2 foods though and yogurt.
