dh said that triple play is only available for the first yr that our bill has now gone up to 200 dollars...
I thought triple play was always 99?
$200 sounds absurd...should we switch or is it all around 200?

Re: optimum-true or false

the $99 is only for one year, from what I remember. We switched to Fios, which has only increased $10 a month since we got it over a year ago. Definitely check out all the fine print with any contract though, A lot of them offer teaser rates....even Dish.

Re: optimum-true or false

I knew it was only for a year, but I didn't know it doubled...that sounds a bit high

Re: optimum-true or false

you DH is right--triple play is available only for the first year for new customers...then the rate shoots up.

however--you can call up cablevision and tell them that you are considering switching to Fios--and they will (after some negotiating) usually give you the double play for another year -- and maybe throw in a free DVR or something.

ETA: your bill shouldn't double--it should maybe go up like $30 or $40. if you had free dvr for a year...like i did....then that's another $10 per box that has it...as well we got free HBO on demand for awhile and that was another $5 extra that was tacked on.

It is only for the first year. My bill afterwards is only $149.00 not $200. Do you have extras?

It's true. Once they raised our rates I called and said I was considering switching to something else. They extended the Triple play for 6 months.
We just received a letter that the 6 months are up and our rates will increase to
$76 optimum Silver
$45 optimum on line
$35 for phone
Not happy about this. And Fios isn't available in our areaChat Icon

Re: optimum-true or false

Just call then and tell them you're switching to Verizon (but first make sure it's available in your area cause they check). They'll extend it for a year.

Re: optimum-true or false

call them and speak to the retention dept and see what they will do. I don't know if you can get FIOS in that complex or satellite for that matter.

just for the record...I could totally see him exxagerating a 155 bill and saying 200 so I am not in disagreement with the 150 answers...but is it naive to think thats Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: optimum-true or false

No, unfortunately, for cable TV, they hold the monopoly, and we are stuck using them. I'm not changing to Verizon or a dish or anything, so I'm stuck with them or nothing. I'm not living without internet. TV and Phone they can have, but DH likes the TV.

True, and they will not always extend it if you threaten to leave.

I had it in my name for a year. Then we switched it to DH's for a year when we bought (and moved into) our house. Nowe we're paying through the nose again...
