I am in need of some suggestions for our kitchen (with pics)
So I had posted a few months ago about having a room next to our kitchen and we weren't sure weather to turn it into the EI part of the kitchen or a playroom. Well we went with EIK and I am so glad we did. We never realized how cramped we were until we moved it out. When we bought the house last year the kitchen was already updated 6 years ago. We found the manufacturer and they were insanely expensive (I am talking $9K for 5 cabinets . We went to Lowe's and ended up getting these Cherry cabinets and went with the two tone look which we were always planning on doing (the original manufacturer recommend that idea). Their are 2 cabinets missing. The middle one is going to be glass doors and the one to the right will be like the one to the left. Now we have the dilemma of countertops. Below is a close up of the countertop we have now. We both aren't crazy about it but we are not going to replace it. Should we go with the same countertop or different and if you went different then what type of color? We originally wanted to do a white basic subway tile (like CaMacho installed in her kitchen) but not sure how it would all tie together. We are not keeping the floors either and have no idea what color family tile we should put down. We have medium to dark gray samples but I feel like it will be to much gray. If we do tan (a natural stone color type of a look) then I think it will clash with the white subway tiles. The other option I was thinking of was a mosaic glass tile with black/white/gray but then I am worried it will be to busy because the existing countertop has royal blue specks which you can see in the picture.
That rotisserie is not their anymore . I hope you were able to follow this but my mind is going in so many directions and I don't know were to start. It was so much easier doing it from scratch.

Personally - I'd do the same countertop. With the two tone, you want it to look like you really wanted it two-tone and weren't stuck getting an entirely different piece. Having the same color countertop will tie it all together.
I think it's a beautiful color actually. It will look really nice against the dark cabinets too.
For backsplash - I'd do a tumbled marble subway tile (instead of porcelain/ceramic). It'd pull the tans from the granite.
For floor - I think the gray would look nice. Or you could do a dark slate-looking floor. I LOVE that look in a kitchen.

perhaps i am confused but i don't understand why you opt for totally different cabinets than your kitchen.
in re: to the countertops, i like what you have already. totally neutral color scheme.
floors? i would recommend hardwood and would tie in perfectly with what you already have.

Do the same counter-top. It'll look great. As for floors, I'm a fan of hardwood floors- even in the kitchen, just makes it seem cozy & up to date.

The cabinets that are existing are completely custom and not standard sizes. Our original plan was to use the 2 cabinets that we had hanging up on the wall we took down and surround them by cherry by the same manufacturer but the price was insane. The kitchen designer actually suggested going two tone because they wouldn't have been able to match the white since it is already almost 7 years old. When we went to lowe's we still had the intention of using the white cabinets but when we went to hang it the depth and the height were off by odd numbers.
Thanks for all the suggestions. We decided last night to go with the current countertop and glass tile for the backsplash (not sure what color yet though). For the flooring we are still undecided between tile and hardwood. The hardwood that you see in the pictures would be coming up because they are brittle and coming up. I don't think the previous owners took care of floors properly. So what ever we put in the kitchen we are putting in the EI part too.
