I won't say word, because they first make the sound without intent.

My DD said "dadadadadada" at 6 months. DS is 7 months and not a peep. He makes some sounds but not really babble. When should he start really babbling???

I would say at this point, he should make different sounds, but not necessarily babbling. I think 9 mts should be a really babbly age.... Chat Icon

I think ds might be late on doing this. He started babbling really young (at 4 months) and then decided he was done with that. Chat Icon Now he mostly makes grunting noises and almost like yelling noises (i think testing his voice). So we'll see. I keep saying Ma Ma to him and nothing. Chat Icon Chat Icon

My DD started saying Dada at around 4 months. She started saying Mama at around 6. Now at 10 months says MAMA, DADA, BABA, NANA, and some other stuff.

Clover started babbling late, around a year. Now at 15 months she "says" about 6 words but still babbles like crazy. I had concerns but was assured she was fine and actually ahead in gross motor (walking at 10 months) where as with Roman it was the total opposite.
