BIRTHDAY VENT
I HATE HATE HATE HAVING MY BIRTHDAY IN JANUARY!!!!
When I was younger, I cannot tell you how many birthday parties of mine have been cancelled due to snow storms. Tomorrow is my birthday and it is the first time in a few years that we actually planned to do something very fun with a whole bunch of friends, and now there is a freaking snow storm AGAIN to ruin my birthday. WHY MUST IT SNOW EVERY YEAR ON JAN 10th!!!???!!

My DS's 1st birthday party is in a few weeks and I'm afraid of the same thing!
All that planning and if I had to cancel, I'd be sooooo upset!!

My birthday is in a crappy month too...
And I hate snow more than anything!
And it ALWAYS seems to snow just in time to ruin somethign for me too- so I feel you on this one totally!
Try to have a good birthday anyway!

Another January birthday here! I have always HATED it too. This is why I have sworn that I will never have a child born in the winter. I am now thinking that I want to celebrate my half birthday in the summer instead.

I was born during the blizzard of '83, so I know how you feel! I'm Feb.13th, my brother is Feb. 27th, and we're a year and two weeks apart, so we would always have our parties close together. Inevitably one of our parties would be postponed or people wouldn't show up because of the snow. It snowed the night of my Sweet 16.
I hope it all works out and you still have a wonderful birthday!

My sister says the same thing all the time. Her birthday is tomorrow too and she can recall every single birthday that was cancelled or where only 2 or 3 people showed up.

oh i'm so sorry!! that really stinks!!
my brother is january 21st and ::knock wood:: we never had to cancel a party for him when he was younger -- and, i don't recall it ever ruining plans for him.
we did have a blizzard the DAY he was born -- it was the famous blizzard of 78 -- but, since then it hasn't gotten in the way. because of that, what happened to you never dawned on me before so that's really crappy!
i think everyone dislikes something about when they were born but this is definitely a valid complaint!
the summer birthdays never get to celebrate them in school and they are always stuck with having "pool parties" lol, for me - april - i have to contend with easter which sometimes falls on my birthday AND since it isn't warm yet there's nothing outside to do. my nephew is the day before christmas eve - so, his gets overshadowed with christmas. you can't win!

uhhh that stinks. I'm sorry. I hope you have a good birthday anyway. maybe the storm won't be as bad as they say it will and you guys will still be able to go out.
My b-day is in the summer and I always had to have a pool party. 9 times out of 10 it rained and we had to cancel since we couldn't fit all those kids in our house.

A few year's ago my son was invited to his classmate's January indoor pool party that got cancelled because of the blizzard.
My husband told me to get the kids dressed while he dug out the car. He said we were dropping that kid's gift off with some hot chocolate because no one should bail on a 5 year old.
There's nothing wrong with celebrating in July.

Too funny...my cousin is 2/4 and I am 2/6!
My oldest DS is Jan 22 and when he was about 8 he postponed his bday party so he could have it at Adventureland. We booked the 1st weekend they open which is around April 1st. The kid waited 3 months....lightning storm...Adventureland closed day of party anyway.

my birthday is 2/9 and I totally know what you mean! It stinks. That is why I am glad DD was born in September.

As a mom with 2 DS's with Jan bdays (22nd & 29th) give your husband a kiss for me. I wish someone had done that any of the bazillion times we've had to cancel stuff for snow.
