you think its ok to switch OBGYN's while TTC?
i had an ob/gyn that ive been going to for years. then right before we decided to start TTC, she decided to no longer practice obstetrics. so i went to a new dr and she has all of my old records and gave me the run through on TTC and did my last check up. but from that initial visit, her office made some screw ups when they were processing my insurance which is a huge headache right now to straighten out!
i guess im just scared of the office's incompetence and that i will have to deal with more of these headaches when i AM pg kwim. but now she knows my history and i just hate the thought of having to go through everything again with another dr (i have a complicated medical history). what would you do?

I'd switch to someone you are comfortable with.

you can def. make the switch now! You have to be 150% comfortable with your Dr. and their office. I never truly understood this until after I had my son. The fact that they had to perform major surgery on me and basically had my life in their hands was something I never thought of before!

I needed a new doctor also - right about when we started TTC. I made an appt. with my new OBGYN - met with her for a routine checkup and also told her that I was TTC. The next month I went back pregnant! I would personally do it before but I'm very anal and controlling and like to have all my ducks in a row with things!

yea i like things in order too. but what do i make an appt for? i dont need a checkup or anything cause i just had one? can you make an appt for just a consultation? if thats the case, should i wait to see if im not pg in the next few months then go to see a dr to see if somethings wrong?

Alot of doctors have something called a preconception appointment maybe you could do that if you have already had an annual exam recently. This way you can share what methods you are using an get any advice or feedback from the new doctor. Then when you go back with your BFP you will have already "met". HTH Good Luck!!
ETA: Also check with your friends and family to see if they have any good recommendations so you pick someone who is organized, knowledgable and has a good bedside manner.

Re: you think its ok to switch OBGYN's while TTC?
If you're not 100% confident with your new OB then you should definitely switch sooner than later. It's a lot more of a hassle once your pregnant and try to switch. Since I've been preggers, I've switched doctors 3 times cause I just couldn't find one i was happy with. (I'm finally with one that I love now) It was a mess with getting records sent over, and making sure not to re-do bloodwork that was already done with the previous doctor, and dealing with the insurance part of all that. Just crazy. Take care of it now if you can.

Absolutely! A co-worker and I are the TTC girls of the office and she is switching to my doctor.
I am considering staying up here if I get a BFP soon so my OB who I can deliver our baby!
