Melted something in dishwasher! Help!

Melted something in dishwasher! Help!
A cap to one of those food storage plastic containers fell in my dishwasher and melted onto one of the bars (it looks like where the heat comes from). My dishwasher is brand new! What can I do to fix this!

It's stuck on the heating element. It's not coming off.

Can you call the manufacturer? They may have advice or maybe they can sell you the part rather then getting a new dishwasher. That sucks. Sorry.

We had this happen to us with one of DSs sippy cup lids. What we did was turned on the dish washer with nothing in it except the melted on cap. In the middle of the cycle when it was hot we used an oven mit and a lot of papertowels to take the melted plastic off of the heating coil. We threw away the oven mit becuase it got all the melted plastic on it. If you have vents or a thing for over the stove turn it on b/c the fumes are really bad. We then ran the dishwasher two times more with just the soap and nothing in it. It came off and we were fine. I hope you are as lucky as we were.

I just sent you and FM, but for everyone else...we used an ice cube and rubbed it around the area melted on and it came off with no damage done.
