Realistically how long can you use a toddler bed for?

My son never slept in his bed so I am clueless on this one. Her room is small and I'd like to forgo getting a "real" bed as long as possible. When did you find your DC was growing out of the toddler bed?

Re: Realistically how long can you use a toddler bed for?

My friend had her DD in a toddler bed til she was 4ish.

But she did say that the last few (maybe 6 months or so) that she was in it she was sleeping very poorly.

My dd is turning 4 in Feb. and she still has plenty of room in her toddler bed. Even with the 30 stuffed animals she keeps in there. Chat Icon

A toddler bed meaning like a racecar bed? (Obviously I know Emma won't be sleeping in racecar lol - but something similar to that size?)

If so, my nephews still sleep in their racecars and they are 5 and 4 years old. And, they are very big for their age! Chat Icon

Summer - you are totally reaching lol - how the hell does that convert into that little bench anyway Chat Icon

But, if it makes you feel better - then: Yes - look how practical it is, not only is it a bed that she will use for years, but it will then turn into a seat that she can sit on with her future puppies!

How was that?! Chat Icon Chat Icon

OMG, man, I need a drink and maybe this would make sense to me

But I do think it is cute....and she'd love itChat Icon

I just looked at it again, the canopy isn't included, so by the time you buy it all, and the cute bedding, it's sort of silly to spend that much. Especially when I can use the perfectly fine one in the basement for free Chat Icon Chat Icon Maybe I can make my own canopy for that one Chat Icon

Re: Realistically how long can you use a toddler bed for?

I just saw a similar bed - with a canopy at BRU two nights ago. I believe it was princess themed - maybe Tinkerbell. It was cute - not sure if you wanted to go the character route though?

My son is 4.5.... He's about 6 months too big for it, IMO, but I am holding out a little longer until we can see what we are doing with their rooms. He loves it and is resistant to change, but he looks huge in it Chat Icon I'd say age 4....

Re: Realistically how long can you use a toddler bed for?

This is my delema. I am switching over his room. Should I just do a twin size bed or keep the toddler bed.

His crib converts to a toddler bed and a full size headboard. I have no clue what we were thinking spending all that money...there is no way a full size bed will fit in that roomChat Icon I really don't think sometimes.

Re: Realistically how long can you use a toddler bed for?

Well since DD is 2 1/2 and still in a crib, I would say she should be good in a toddle bed until at least 5, lol lol. At least that is what I am hoping. They usually use the crib mattress so its not that big. DD room is only 8 x 10 so put a twin bed in there and maybe she will have room to walk around it.Chat Icon
