How long would/did you TTC on your own before seeing a specialist or
when would you go in to see your own OBGyn. It's been months and I'm beginning to think we may need professional help. It was sooooo easy with the first baby that I mistakingly thought it would be that easy this time around as well. I'm beginning to get very frustrated.

Around 9 months we had an SA done.
At 12 months, we did CD 3 blood work and HSG.
At 13 months, we went to an RE.

thanks for responding. What's an SA? Did you consult with your OBGyn b4 this or was that the first time you went in at 9mos?

At three months, we will do a SA. 6 months I have no idea. I am in my twenties, but DH is 36. I had CD21 blood taken already.

We started trying November/December 2007 and I saw my OB/GYN in the begining of October. He suggested an RE toward the end of October.

My doc wants to see me if I don't get PG within 6 months. I will be going in March if I don't get my BFP by then.

After my second was born my cycles were out of wack and I had an idea something wasn't right. We tried for a bit and then I saw my doc and it turned out I wasn't ovulating.

For me, yes. I conceived my first month of trying the first time - miscarried and conceived again a week later. So after 6 months of dedicated trying with a fertility monitor and charting, I had a gut feeling something was wrong. I had a PPO so I didn't need a referral or permission to see a specialist so I just made the appointment on my own.

Working on our 4th month now. Went to my Gyno last week. I had a sonogram Monday.. an appt for CD21 blood work and CD3 blook work and a SA for DH.

Same here. With DS we got pregnant first month of BCP, not trying at all. I didn't even know when I ovulated and we probably only had sex 2 times that whole month.
Now with TTC #2 we kinda tried for 2 mos then got PG but miscarried and now this is the 3rd cycle since the mc. I'm 34 so I think I am going to call my dr in a month or so.

If you are under 35, you are supposed to wait a year before you see a specialist. Over 35- 6 months.

My doctor told me after 6 months of trying without success to come see her. So we are on month 6 now and I have an appt with her in March (that will be after month 7).
My doctor didn't make any comment about charting and such with these attempts...just that if we didn't get pregnant in 6 months to call. But of course I am too type A to just make these attempts so I have been doing the OPKs all along and keeping track of my cycles. This way I can sit down with her and we have a better understanding as to what we do know.

I saw a RE after 6 months trying using every trick in the book. I was 32 at the time.

Yes, it took me 9 months to get PG with DD after my second m/c and the doc didn't want me waiting that long again.
