Do you think they'd write a prescription for morning sickness? (mild case..)

While it doesn't FEEL mild to me, I know it could be worse. I am basically nauseous all day long. I was the same way with my son.

I have read that doctors can prescibe an anti-nausea medication..I just placed a call to the office, waiting on a call back.

Did anyone go on medication?? Are there side effects? I don't want to have to take medicine but this has been pretty rough!! Worse the second time around, ugh...

I know alot of ladies here have taken something. I had really bad m/s - all day nausea that never let up. However, I have a very conservative Dr. and she said as long as I was holding my food down (which I was), she didn't want me to take anything. Chat Icon

I know some doctors prescribe zofran, but I don't know the specifics.

This is what I'm thinking..maybe its better i don't take anything, i just figured if it was safe then I would definitely try something. This feeling is awful, I almost wish i could throw up! Maybe i'd get relief!!

I have the same thing - I had it with Alex, and at the time, my doctor prescribed me zofran. I used it sparingly because it is a heavy medication and who knows what the impact can be.

Now I'm PG again and the 24 hour nauseau is back. I asked my RE about the zofran and she won't prescribe it, though she did mention some vitamins she can prescribe which may ease the nauseau, or some kind of sugar water that children use for tummy aches.

I'm going to ask her about it again next week.

ETA - like davenjess mentioned - I find if I eat something small every hour, it does make it a little more tolerable Chat Icon

I had hyperemesis so I had nausea and would vomit 10-15 X a day... I couldn't take any anti- nausea medication because of a past allergic reaction to one of them.

Some natural things you can try:
Taking vitamin B6 (ask your OB for recomended dosage)
Ginger capsules
Ginger tea
Ginger candy
sea bands
small frequesnt meals to maintain your blood sugar levels and keep them from dipping/spiking (studies show that drastic changes in blood sugar levels lead to an increase in nausea and vomiting during PG)

I got prescribed zofran. It is supposed to be very safe. Unfortunately it didn't help me at all.

I got prescribed 2 other prescriptions but they both didn't work for me either. I forgot the names of them.

Thanks so much to everyone for the feedback!

THey called back and said no prescription, to do the B6 vitamins...I'll try that for now!

And I have tried eating smaller, more frequent meals..I think it helps a little...I know it'll get better but right now its bad.

I cannot imagine how those with hyperemesis got through it..my heart goes out to you!!!! Chat Icon

I never asked for a prescription. My midwife said she would prescribe something if I wanted it because I was vomitting 5+ times a day & feeling nauseated 24/7. I choose not to take it though because it made me nervous. I tried the B6 pills, but I always through them up a few minutes after taking them.

Try crackers & ginerale & eating small meals during the day. Chat Icon

I had m/s everyday, all day, for the first 4 months. My midwife prescribed Phenergen for me. It was a life saver. I took 1 in the morning, and if needed 1/2 a tablet at night. The nausea went away and I gained 16 pounds. LOLChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

along with the vitamin b6 try taking unisom tablets at 6pm.

I had terrible /s and thought zofran would be perfect well it takes away the nausea but slows down my gi system to the point of stopping it (if you know what i mean)

so i just try the smalll meals carbs etc....
