Work Hours
What is everyone planning to do with their hours at work after the baby is born. Currently I work 11-9, 4 days a week, which is fine for now. However, I can't imagine spending over 11 hours away from the baby four days a week. I have thought about cutting my hours to 32 a week, but I have to see if that is financially possible. What are other people planning to do? I think its partially hormones, but I feel sick whenever I think about this.

I was working at a firm before I had my DD so my transition back didn't go so well. I ended up leaving my job and taking a new job with the Federal Gov't which gives me more flexibility and better hours. Now I go into work at 6:30am so I can leave by 3pm

I changed jobs when I was on maternity leave with DS.
I ended up getting a PT job working 10-4 M-F. But some days I would come in later or leave earlier. It was super flexible.
I think flexibility in a job is very important when going back to work.
Now with DD I am fortunate that I am working for my DH's company. I work one day a week now from home.

My hours are pretty nice - 8-4 Mon-Fri.
But I work in NYC, so my hours are really 7-5:30/6 w/ the commute.
I don't see myself changing anything

I work 8:30 - 5:00 and on weekends/late nights if the need arises

My hours are long now and will seem even longer when I know the baby is w/o me. So I'm torn right now. I leave the house at 7:30 am and don't return until close to 7 pm. That's way too long to be away. I'm totally stressing about this because I know my company doesn't "do" flexible...anything. So, we'll see what happens.

Being I'm the steady income in my marriage, I don't have the option to scale back. I work in NYC, so I'll be gone from 645AM and coming home at 645pm on average. DH will be home for the majority of the time with the baby, then we need to find a babysitter for about 3-5 hours a day. DH works nights and starts anytime between 2-4 PM. (normally 3 PM though)

My hours will remain the same 8:30 - 5:30. My commute is only 15 minutes.

I'm in the same position. I hope to find something to do from home in my field.
