He was my friend I knew all of the men in the car. It's so awful. I cannot believe this happened to someone so young & undeserving. He was such a nice person & he is going to be missed by so many people. It makes me so angry because it's just so unfair. I never have & never will understand how someone could think it's okay to get behind the wheel after drinking like that. Is it worth it to kill someone so that you don't have to call a cab?
Please everyone keep his friends & family in your prayers.
I am so sorry for your loss

Re: A drunk driver takes yet another life
So this driver had previous arrests associated with drunk driving And he's able to walk away from the accident after someone else lost their life for no fault of their own!??
I cannot understand why there aren't harsher punishments for DUI/DWI my thoughts/prayers to his family

What a tragic loss of an innocent life. There need to be MUCH stronger penalties for DWI.

Re: A drunk driver takes yet another life
Horrible just horrible. Ive said it before that I lost a friend to drunk driving. The problem is the laws are not strict enough. Even when you murder someone drinking and driving you don't go to jail for long (they got a year and weren't even in this country legally in my friends death)

From the article: "In June 2006, Esquivel pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated, state records show. He was sentenced on Sept. 15, 2006, to 30 days in jail, a $500 fine and three years' probation." Um, is it me or is this a slap on the wrist? What happened to zero tolerance & taking your car?
Ya taking the car away.. people sued the county saying it was their property. Just like posting mugshots in the paper of the drunk idiots, It showed that it actually STOPPED lots of arrests for this (people don't want to be embarrased) but the drunks say it's not fare

Re: A drunk driver takes yet another life
This accident is so unfortunate and could've been well prevented if for not more strict laws. It upsets me that this man has been convicted before and he's out drinking again....WTH!! This happened not even five minutes from my house. Michael (Gigglesbear) had just dropped me off and as I came inside that night and he drove home I heard all of the sirens...shortly after he called to tell me of this horrific accident which closed off the road.....I thank my lucky stars that he didn't leave a few minutes sooner because he would've gone home that way and it could've easily been him. It frightens me that these people drive around drunk and innocent people are always the ones in harms way....there needs to be some thing done about this!

If you are not convicted then no penalty, but once they are CONVICTED of a DWI/DUI, then all bets are off. Sorry but it was a potentially or actually a deadly weapon. If someone shot another person with a gun that was their property, you had better know that the gun is going bye bye.
Unfortunatley, revoking licenses does not even do the trick, since so many times you hear of people driving with revoked and suspended licenses.
