Just got back from labor and delivery (long)

I had a doctor's appointment this morning to see if I was ok to travel to my parents on LI for Thanksgiving. I had another sono to check my fluid levels since they were borderline high at my growth sono 2 weeks ago. My fluid is still high. My blood pressure was elevated 138/7? and I had a trace of protein in my urine. When the doctor came in to re-check my blood pressure, she started talking about taking me out of work and my blood pressure spiked to 160/90.

Due to my swelling, weight gain, blood pressure, etc, the doctor wanted me admitted to labor and delivery. I was really nervous and started crying in the doctor's office. Everyone was really nice about it.

DH met me at the hospital. Luckily, the hsoptial is basically across the street from my doctor's office. My blood pressure was much better at the hospital. My bloodwork came back good except for my uric acid. The baby sounded great. I had a decent amount of contractions although I couldn't feel any of them. I'm not dilated at all which is good.

The doctor on call said there's no way I'll make it to Christmas. I guess my uric acid levels could indicate that I may develop toxemia later on. Since everything else looked good though, I was ok to go home. I have to do a 24 hour urine collection. I will need to have weekly stress tests and my fluid levels will be monitored weekly. I'm now on strict bedrest for the rest of the week. I have an appointment Monday morning to see if I can return to work. I definitely didn't expect this, but at least the baby is doing great. was moving around like crazy when I had the fetal monitor strapped to me. I got a few more sono pictures and yet again, a hand is blocking most of the baby's face. I'm just that the bedrest will help my swelling and blood pressure issues.

sounds like you are being taken care of very well...just rest and hopefully you will have good news on Monday....

OMG....all these dec mommies are looking like they are going to go early!!! It sounds like you're in good hands, just relax and stay rested!!!!
