Translation...38wk doctors appointment
I had my 38 wk doctor appointment today. My doctor said that I am 1cm dilated and 80% effaced (same as last week) but the baby is very low and engaged in my pelvis. She said she knows that I had the same calculation last week (1cm/80%) but something feels different this week.
Anyway, she said she doesn't expect to see me at my next doctors appointment on Monday. That she thinks I'll have the baby by then. But there is still a chance that I could be at my next appointment. What exactly does this mean?!?!?! She has my hopes really HIGH that I'll have the baby by this weekend. She aslo asked where I was having Thanksgiving because she wanted to make sure I was close enough to the hospital.
I'm just confused and excited at the same time.

Sounds like she thinks it will be within the week, but she of course can't guarantee this.
Maybe you will have a thanksgiving baby!

I know that she can't guarantee anything but it's almost that I wish she didn't get my hopes up.
I guess I was more or less asking if this has happened to anyone and they did deliver that quick with only being 1cm/80% effaced.

Ive been like this (1cm, effaced, and head real low) for 2 weeks now! I go to the DR today and I am hoping he tells me some good news! I am so ready!

Sounds like to me that from her experience with other patients in your position most have had their babys soon after.. but not all. so she cant say for defiant that you will have baby by next appointment since its up to your body when you will give birth.

sounds like she expects you to go into labor any day now!!!!!
i would be excited, but not get my hopes up TOO much, because in the end no one really knows when you will go!
i was 100% effaced, 3cm dilated for a week and a half. all the providers in my OB's office were floored that i hadn't given birth yet... but he wasn't ready until he was ready

Being that you are nicely effaced, if you try some things to help induce your labor (DTD) you just may have the baby soon!!! Good luck!!
