While you are in the hospital
do you plan on taking a shower?
the idea of sharing a room is killing me let alone using the shower. i figure my hair can hold out for 4 days and i will use the basin they give you for baby to clean myself.i am going to bring soap with me and i think johnsons makes these disposable washclothes. sounds gross but i can not picture stepping into that germ hole!

they are actually pretty clean. and i recommend bringing a pair of cheap $1 flip flops that you can wear in the shower and throw away before going home. that way your feet dont have to touch the floor. but sometimes just taking a shower can make you feel a million times better. just a suggestion!

yes i am going to take a shower. after the sweating and pulling and prodding at my body i think the shower will help.
i am going to bring flip flops with me.
how bad can it be? It cant be worse than showering in college dorms which i remember all too clearly!

i don't understand why you are concerned about the other women? I am sure the bathroom has a door and you can bring you clothes in with you and get dressed there.
I am sure you will be a much bigger germ hole than the bathroom if you don't shower for 4 days after giving birth. From everyone I have spoken to you are going to be bleeding and feeling really gross and a J&J washcloth just ain gonna cut it

Although I haven't been through it yet, I can not imagine not showering after giving birth!! I'd imagine you'd be so sweaty and tired, you'd take a shower just about anywhere. I think the $1 flip flops is a good idea, and maybe bring a robe too so you can go in and out of the bathroom covered up.

I'm sure I'll feel incredibly gross and a shower will make me feel a lot better. The hospital where I'm delivering has private rooms, but even if it didn't, I'm sure I'd want to shower after labor.

I did and it was freezing!!!!!!!!!!! They had no hot water!!
If they have hot water then yes I will shower while there. Esp since I am having another c-section and will be there a few days.

the L & D nurses actualyl recommend bring a robe and a pair of cheap slippers (the slippers you would have to toss as well) as well as a nightgown of your own. anything thats yours makes you feel better just a few suggestions

i don't know, i am not a person who enjoys sharing the bathroom with anyone. when i had my son i took a shower because i was alone in the room. the other times i washed from head to toe with a basin and dh changed the water for me a few times. i guess its my germ-o-phobe getting the best of me but i just find it gross to shower in a hospital in a shower where strangers just showered and it has not been bleached what can i say i have some issues

Yeah I had a private room with my own bathroom with DD- but when you are there 4-5 days for a csection - and bleeding heavily you will NOT want to do a hand towel/sponge bath it just doesn't cut it. No matter how much pain I was in I was dying to take that shower. If you are only there 2 days you might be able to get away with it - but if it was me I would still feel like I would want a shower.

Yes but in my hospital you only get private rooms. I can't imagine sharing a room after having a baby.

you are lucky. when i left the hospital last week there were 3 to a room! and the people in my room weren't careful when using the toilet and the one girl who showered left it a mess.

I had a private room, so I had no problem showering. But I will tell you that the shower makes you feel soooo good. You don't even know that you arent feeling great, until you shower, and get out and feel soooo much better!

OMG 3 people in a room? That's insane.
How do they deal with HIPPA and all the privacy laws when people share rooms.
I don't know of any hospitals here in CO where people share a room for anything.

I'm going to tell you I would have said the same thing, and then after staying in the hospital last week, I felt so disgusting after 2 days I was so relieved when they said I could take a shower.

As gross as it may be, I 100% plan on taking a shower after labor. There is no way I can hold out until I get home. I'm sure you must feel disgusting after hours of labor.

I couldn't wait for that first shower after delivery...I don't get easily grossed out by that stuff since I lived in a dorm with 60 girls in college!

I am def taking a shower as soon as I can!!! I know myself and I will be totally unhappy if I didn't. I am bringing a robe and flip flops. And my own pj's!!

I am planning on getting a private room, which I hope to god will be available. I am sure I will shower-- depending on how long I am there for. I feel gross if I don't shower... but I guess it depends on how I am feeling.

this is absolutely true.
quite honestly, birth is totally disgusting. i showered within hours of giving birth and felt like a million bucks after. i couldn't imagine not showering for four days.
i would seriously consider doing whatever you need to do to make yourself comfortable enough to take a shower. why not bring your own cleaner and spray the shower down before you go in?
