Stress
My husband and I got into an argument tonight (really he was being unreasonable), and it got me more stressed, so here I am crying
What makes me more upset is that I think stress like this or crying is harmful to the baby...
Am I right? If so, how do I explain to him that this is not only affecting me, but upsetting the baby...
Also, doesn't he realize that I could be more hormonal now
I'm so upset

Re: Stress
Honestly, your hormones will be all over the place during the pregnancy. You will cry. It will be at commercials, movies, realizing there is no more ice cream left... I don't think we can be treated with kid gloves for 9 months, even though our DHs should be helpful in every way that they can.
I can't imagine that crying is harmful, because if it is, there would be many more babies with problems! Believe me when I say I cry nearly every day, even just seeing pictures of babies at this point. It's a very emotional time, and at 4 or 5 weeks, you haven't hit the worse of it by any means. Your hcg levels are still relatively low.
We all have stress in the workplace, stress at home...My first 6 weeks after finding out I had my 2 huge work deadlines of the year. To some extent we need to learn how to deal with the stress and learn to relax ourselves. We can't all quit our jobs and live in a bubble to protect ourselves from stress.
That said, maybe your DH could get a book for expecting dads. My DH has one, and it does help a bit to understand what our bodies are going through.

Re: Stress
Many of us have gone through this and wondered the same thing. I can only assume that a baby can handle our screaming/crying...after all, look how they enter the world most times (with us screaming/crying,etc).
I do understand...I worried about the same thing but not so much anymore. I figure there have to be women under more stress than myself (look at women pg on 9/11) and their babies turned out fine.

Re: Stress
Occassional bouts of crying and emotional upset are normal during pregnancy. Its only concerning if you feel continuously stressed or depressed.
