Who is having a scheduled C-Section?
Are you nervous? What do you fear the most? I am so petrified, even though I already had a c-section before. I am so scared of the epidural and of throwing up. I am starting to get bad anxiety....is anyone else?

Re: Who is having a scheduled C-Section?
I'm scheduled for next tuesday and I'm terrified. I'm scared of something going wrong, scared of the pain, all the unknowns. The rational side of me knows it will be ok but the other side has completely taken over.

I am thinking that once I get there and they gave me the epidural, I will be in the mind frame that it is almost over and I can deal with it. I AM HOPING!!

Re: Who is having a scheduled C-Section?
I am but I hope this one will be a better experience. Of course I could go into labor before my scheduled due date but with DD I was in labor for over 22 hours before I had my section so knowing that I go in and just have the baby seems less stressful than having to experience all the labor first then the section. And if I go into labor first my OB says I just go straight in and they will section me right away.

I am and I am fine with having another one. I had one with DS and had a great experience with recovery so I just hope that it is the same this time.

Same with me - my biggest fear is going into labor before my scheduled date. DD came almost 3 full weeks early, so it is definitely not out of the question.
I am a big planner and I think that I would be more upset if it didn't go the way it is "supposed to".

Re: Who is having a scheduled C-Section?
I am a bit nervous. I am nervous because DS was 2 weeks early and I, too, am afraid of going into labor before my C Section date. I am pretty sure I just call my dr. and go right in. Still makes me a bit nervous though.

Re: Who is having a scheduled C-Section?
I had a scheduled c/s almost 1 year ago. Anyway, for those of you who had ones before I will say that I have heard from friends that the scheduled version was much easier than the one after multiple hours of labor. The theory I have heard is that your body didn’t have to do as much work prior to the surgery so it doesn’t have as much recovery to do basically instead of recovering from 22 hours of labor and surgery, your body just has to focus on the surgery part. Don’t know if its true or not as I have only had 1. But I didn’t have 1 contraction and my recovery was easy.
As far as going early, my friend had a scheduled c/s with her first but went into labor 6 weeks early. At the hospital they gave her some stuff to stop labor and she went home. Then 4 weeks before her due date she went into labor again (VERY early stages, very light contractions) she went into her OB, went to the hospital was on monitor, she wasn’t dilating yet so they scheduled her section for the next day. So she delivered 4 weeks early. Because she went into labor they gave her the option to try a VBAC but she didn’t want to.
When I had mine, I was most scared of the IV. To me that hurt more than the spinal – I did throw up on the table but it didn’t seem like a big deal.

Re: Who is having a scheduled C-Section?
I am scheduled. I have a very strong fear of infection, so that's on my mind. That is my biggest worry, hospital and drs not following infection control properly (just a hangup of mine) or the rare chance of a medical mistake. My other big fear is not being able to get a private room, which is what I want. We don't care about what it costs, we want it badly. Again, my issue is with sharing a room with people, using the same bathroom, having to hear them and their visitors etc. But other than that, no real worries about the csection in general. I actually like the predictability of the scheduled c/s. I do have a slight fear of going early and not having MY dr do the section.

Re: Who is having a scheduled C-Section?
I am scheduled as well...My biggest worry is my DS and how he will cope with me staying in the hospital ( he's such a mommy's boy )...Other than that, the only worry I have is that last time with my c-section, I had a very hard time swallowing when they were stitching me up and it made me a little panicky to not be able to speak and let them know what I was feeling...I already mentioned this to my OB and my DH is on alert to be on the look-out for any distress signs from me - other than that I think I'm ok and hoping my recovery is just as good as last time !

I had a great first experience so I am "pretty" calm. Just the usual worries as with any delivery... praying the baby will be perfectly healthy, I will do OK etc. I did get sick with the last one, then they gave me meds in my IV and it went away, this time I will just ask for the meds as a preventative measure. also... slightly terrified of going early... big planner here too!

As for me, I was fine during the procedure.. in recovery I got nauseous out of NOWHERE. I just got sick twice, tmi, it was all bile since you are empty anyway. as quick as it came on, after the medicine it disappeared just as quickly. They give you like a 24 hour morphine type pain medication in your IV so I assumed it was in reaction to that and being empty.

Re: Who is having a scheduled C-Section?
I'm having one exactly 4 weeks from today and am scared *****tless 'cus I've seen videos and it all looks so gory to me.
I am scared I won't be numb enough and will feel pain or I would not recover properly. A friend of mine got an infection and her wound still hasn't healed after 4 months! :(
How long will the hospital allow you to stay if you had a c-section? And will they allow your hubby to stay overnight with you?

Re: Who is having a scheduled C-Section?
I am scheduled on December 1st and am sooo scared!! I never had any kind of major surgery and if I was going to go vaginally I didn't want an epidural because I was scared of that and now I def. need one. The fact of being wide awake during the procedure is freaking me out and complications of course! I just keep focusing on seeing my little boy and that's all that matters in the end.

The spinal / epi can make you nauseous.
For me I swear it was as -- TMI -- they started moving stuff around inside there, I felt them and all of hte sudden I told hte Drs I dont feel so good, but they didnt get me a bed pan in time so DH and I got covered

Hopefully I won't be puking for 7 hours like I did for DS in the recovery room.
I am not looking forward to the pain and recovery either.

Re: Who is having a scheduled C-Section?
me! This is my second scheduled c-section. I'm not nervous at all. There is always a chance of complications & infection, of course, but there's absolutely nothing I can do to prevent it, so no use worrying. I had a great experience the first time & "they" say that the second recovery is usually easier. The actual delivery is a piece of cake, so don't be at all nervous about that, it's just that the recovery is a little rough for a few weeks. Good luck!
ETA: The moment I felt nauseous, I told the anesthesiologist & he put something in my IV & the feeling went away instantly. It was amazing!
