BF moms did you get flu shot?
My DS is going to be 5 months next week. My doctor said this year there is a warning that they are advising nursing mothers not to get the flu shot. My ped. however said I should get it.
What should I do? I have a 23 month old who is going to get his next week for the 1st time since hes starting daycare part time in Feb and I am a teacher but have never gotten it. I go back to work in Feb however my infant is staying home with dad.

DD was born in sept/07 and before being discharged from hospital they gave me flu shot and I was bfing.

I have been getting flu shots consistently from the year I got pregnant with my son and I EBFed both my kids.

i have 9 days to go until i have #2 and my OB asked if i had gotten a flu shot. i said "no" and she kinda gave me the evil eye. i've never had it and wasn't planning on it, but don't know if i should reconsider

Where did this "warning" come from... do you have any concrete info on the warning??? just interested to see where its coming from and what it exactaly is

I got the flu shot when I eas EBF Julia, and I just got the flu shot again, and I'm EBF Todd Jr now too, never had any problems.

I BF DD last year and it was "highly recommended" that I get it by my OB, PCP AND my ped. Did you ask why it is not recommended this year? Are you talking about the shot or the flu mist - b.c I can see the flu mist since it is a live virus but the shot should be okay when BFing - esp since this is how you can give your DC some antibodies.

When I called to make an apt. for the shot with my doc I asked them if it was ok b/c of BF. The nurse practitioner called back and said that this year they are "strongly suggesting" BFing moms not take it b/c of the "ill-effects"on the baby. I am assuming the compnay that manufactuters the shot is saying that. Im not 100% sure b/c I was not so thrilled about getting it to begin with. Im gonna call back tom and ask some more specific questions.

I never have had the flu shot, even before PG or BF. I was always 'high risk' and told to get it, before PG, but I never did. SO I just kept up with that while BF.
